Much like the IPL 2025 season, the Sanjiv Goenka and Rishabh Pant feud on April 1 has now gained some traction as cricketers and commentators have joined in to bash the LSG owner.

Joining hands is the founding member of the Indian Premier League, Lalit Modi, who slammed Goenka for the viral clip that is now going viral on the internet.

Openly insulting Sanjiv Goenka on social media, Lalit Modi slammed the behaviour on the field that surfaced at Ekana Cricket Stadium during the LSG vs DC clash in IPL 2026, igniting the memories of the KL Rahul vs Goenka clash.

What Happened Between Sanjiv Goenka and Rishabh Pant in IPL 2026?

In a viral social media clip, Goenka was found pointing fingers at Pant and talking with him intensely as Pant tried to explain himself in the boundary lines after the match was over.

Notably, Lucknow Super Giants lost the game against Delhi Capitals after a solid fight early during DC’s chase. Sameer Rizvi's heroics allowed the latter to gain momentum to seal the match by 6 wickets.

Known for his unprecedented behaviour with team captains like KL Rahul, Sanji Goenka was therefore found chatting animatedly with Rishabh Pant after the IPL match.

Lalit Modi and Michael Vaughan slam Sanjiv Goenka For Poor Gesture With Pant

Replying to the viral video on the internet, former England cricketer Michael Vaughan took to his official social media handle to slam the behaviour as he wrote, “1 game into the Tournament .. No need for this ..”

He implied that only after the first game of the tournament, Rishabh Pant, the skipper, does not need such reprimanding.

Modi Insults Goenka Calling Him A ‘Clown’

Replying to Vaughan’s comment, Lalit Modi was super dodgy with his unthoughtful comments on the LSG owner. Taking to his official handle, Modi blasted Goenka’s behaviour.

“I told you this guy @DrSanjivGoenka owner of @LucknowIPL is a complete looser and joker of the highest order - i am seriously embarrassed with his behaviour. I created the @IPL for fans and players alike. Not for this to happen every time every year.

If I was still Chairman and commissioner I would have BANNED him immediately and made him forfeit his ownership of the team for ever. He is a complete pompous clown,” Modi wrote on his wall.

After claims of banning Goenka from the IPL, Modi also requested the Board of Control for Cricket in India to implement severe laws made for owners to punish players for poor performance.

“There is a clause in the franchise agreement for this exact issue. #bcci implement it - keep integrity above all - sucking up to powers that be is not the way to allow him to get away. Fans and players alike will remember,” Modi wrote.

The Beef Between Sanjiv Goenka and Lalit Modi

The history of these two goes back days, though. A few days back, Goenka publicly acknowledged many names for the growth of IPL as a tournament in India.

However, he missed out Lalit Modi’s name. Modi, furiated at this incident, took to his social media handle to blast Goenka for this ignorance, calling him a ‘clown’ with ‘zero knowledge’.

Nevertheless, as the online fight continues, it is to be noted that Sanjiv Goenka haven’t responded to any of these tweets yet, neither on social media nor on any media release.

For now, LSG will book a loss in their inaugural clash and will look to recover in their next match against SRH on April 5.
