Rumours have circulated that Brook will play in PSL [Source: AFP]
Harry Brook is perhaps the biggest English name on the world stage at the moment, and while his other teammates are talented, Brook is cut from a different cloth as he brings an X-factor to the England team across formats. He is one of the few world cricketers to have cemented his place in all three formats, and that showcases his calibre.
A couple of months ago, rumours circulated that Brook had been approached by numerous PSL franchises to join their league for the 2026 season. Harry Brook had previously played in the PSL, and it was there that he carved a name for himself.
In the last few years, the England white-ball skipper has been picky with his schedule, as he ditched the IPL, not once, but twice, and as a result, he was banned from the league for the 2026 and 2027 seasons.
Brook set to play in PSL 2026?
While Brook ignored the IPL and was concentrating on his England career, fresh rumours started to circulate that the Yorkshire batter had reportedly signed a deal with IPL’s rival, PSL, and he would represent Islamabad United as a replacement player.
Fans in Pakistan got excited, as Brook is one of the big international names, and his arrival would have boosted the PSL ratings as well. Numerous accounts on X posted the news that the right-handed batter will play in the PSL, but after careful consideration, the reports were false.
A number of X account holders in Pakistan boasted about Brook’s arrival in Pakistan, and they mentioned that HUM News in Pakistan is the official source for the news. However, after a bit of research, all evidence pointed out that the news is fake, and HUM News never really posted anything about Brook playing in the PSL.

PSL is where Brook became a household name
It was in 2022 when England decided to try out Harry Brook in their team. In the English domestic circuit, Brook was always touted as the future captain, but his rapid rise was first witnessed in the PSL 2022 season.
Representing the Lahore Qalandars, Brook outshone everyone as he proved his class with some breathtaking displays. In 10 PSL matches, the England captain racked up 264 runs, with a strike rate of 171.43.
Moreover, he also scored a century in the league as he became a household name, not only in Pakistan, but in England as well. After the PSL, the Three Lions fast-tracked the Yorkshire cricketer into their setup.
Brook avoiding franchise leagues to concentrate on England future
He last played in the PSL in 2022 and last took part in the IPL in 2023. In the following two years, Delhi Capitals roped him in their IPL squad, but on both occasions, he ditched the franchise. As a result, the batter was barred from playing in IPL 2026, and 2027.
He also reportedly turned down an offer from one of the PSL franchises to play in 2026, and the reason is simple: The England captain plans to focus on the upcoming international challenges. The Three Lions will play plenty of cricket this year, and England wants their skipper to build a strong core of players in the ongoing off-season.
