Danni Wyatt-Hodge pulled off a spectacular show on Saturday at Edgbaston, Birmingham, when England were up against Sri Lanka in Match 1 of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026. Laced with 13 fours and a six, Wyatt-Hodge made an unbeaten 105 off 62 balls to help England pile up 219/1 against the Chamari Athapaththu-led side.
It was the highest-ever team total in a Women’s T20 World Cup match. Earlier, England’s 213/5 against Pakistan, which happened in 2023, was the highest team total at the mega event over the years, followed by South Africa’s 195/3 against Thailand (2020), India’s 194/5 against New Zealand (2018) and Australia’s 191/4 against Ireland (2014).
Danni Wyatt-Hodge Joins All-Time List
With the century, Danni Wyatt-Hodge became the seventh woman to hit a century in T20 World Cups, joining Meg Lanning, Deandra Dottin, Heather Knight, Harmanpreet Kaur, Muneeba Ali and Lizelle Lee.
More significantly, Wyatt-Hodge's 105 not not took her above Harmanpreet Kaur, who smashed 103 in the same match in 2018 where India posted 194/5 against New Zealand.

In addition, Danni Wyatt-Hodge, 35 now, has now got 593 runs in T20 World Cups. Only Nat Sciver-Brunt and Charlotte Edwards, two of the finest from England, have made more runs than her, with tallies of 784 and 768 runs respectively.

It was Danni Wyatt-Hodge’s T20I third century, joint second among all. Sri Lanka’s Chamari Athapaththu, Romania’s Rebecca Blake, along with Laura Wolvaardt, Hayley Matthews and Fatuma Kibasu, all have notched three T20I hundreds each.
Meanwhile, the list is led by UAE’s Esha Oza, who has five T20I centuries.
England Enjoy Easy 87-Run Win Over Sri Lanka
Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 hosts England could not have asked for a better start in the competition. After putting 219/1 on the board, they folded Sri Lanka for 132, registering a commanding 87-run victory to kick off the proceedings.
Along with Wyatt-Hodge, debutant Freya Kemp was influential for England’s success. Kemp returned excellent figures of 4/21, becoming only the third woman to take a four-fer on T20 World Cup debut, after Danni Wyatt-Hodge and India’s Diana David.
For England, only Holly Colvin took a four-wicket haul in the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 apart from Danni Wyatt-Hodge and Freya Kemp.
England will next play Ireland on Tuesday (June 16) in Match 8 of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 at The Rose Bowl, Southampton. With Ireland and Sri Lanka are already in Group B, England are in the same pool, joining New Zealand, Scotland and the West Indies.
