London-born Freya Kemp made a name for herself after making her debut for the national team at the age of 17 when the all-rounder was named in the Playing XI in a T20I against South Africa in July 2022. Later, the Hampshire all-rounder even made her way into England's squad for the Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham. She even made a mark in the multi-nation tournament by becoming England's leading wicket-taker in the event.
The 2005-born cricketer had impressed everybody so much that by the end of the 2022 season, Kemp was voted the PCA Women's Young Player of the Year.
Kemp, who is a left-arm seamer and a middle-order batter, made history in 2022 by becoming the youngest English women's player to score a T20I fifty.
Kemp made her county debut in 2019 for Sussex against Nottinghamshire in the Women's Twenty20 Cup. Later, she switched her county to Hampshire.
The all-rounder made her ODI debut against India in Sept 2022.
A formidable player, Kemp has been a victim of stress fractures in her back. This led to her missing out on the flight to South Africa for the women's T20 World Cup in 2023. “I was gutted to miss out on the World Cup and it was something I had to deal with,” Kemp said on missing the tournament.
The stress fractures prevented her from bowling for more than a year, which led to her playing for teams as a pure batter.
Later, she was named in the squad for the women's T20 World Cup in 2024 in Uthe AE. In 2024, she was named in the squad for the one-off Test against South Africa as well.
In 2025, the all-rounder will be representing the Southern Brave franchise in The Hundred.
Notably, Kemp is also involved in campaigns promoting cricket among young girls in the UK.
