Australia bulldozed Ashes rivals England in the final of the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup at the iconic Lord’s in London. Under the leadership of all-rounder Sophie Molineux, the Australian Women’s team extended its T20 World Cup dominance to seven titles, as they made amends for losing the 2024 edition in the UAE a couple of years ago.
Australia Women is also the most successful team in ICC Women’s ODI World Cups by a landslide, with a collection of seven titles despite losing the latest edition in India last year. Overall, Australia’s trophy cabinet now boasts an unrivalled collection of 14 ICC silverwares, further cementing their place as the undisputed queens of the women’s game.
As one can expect, Australia’s latest victory sparked a wave of reactions among cricket fans on social media, with several online users congratulating the team for further enriching its trophy collection.

After the result, and even during the finishing stages of the Australian run chase at Lord’s, a legion of cricket fans took to X and expressed their admirations for the champion team. Here is a look at how some of the fans reacted to Australia’s 2026 T20 World Cup win.
Beth Mooney mows down England in one-sided World Cup final
England Women’s team batted first and lost both openers, Amy Jones and Danni Wyatt-Hodge inside the powerplay overs. Captain Nat Sciver-Brunt at number three stabilized the faltering English innings by punching out a composed 58* from 53 balls.
The legendary all-rounder listed five boundaries in the innings, and conjured fighting partnerships with Alice Capsey and fellow unbeaten batter Freya Kemp. The latter of the two cricketers blasted 44* from just 28 balls with four boundaries and a six to turbo-charge the England innings at the death as the hosts reached a competitive 150-4 in 20 overs.
For Australia, bowlers Kim Garth, Lucy Hamilton, Annabel Sutherland and captain Sophie Molineux all picked up a wicket each.
In response, Lauren Bell knocked over Georgia Voll for just nine, but a 100-run partnership between Beth Mooney and Phoebe Litchfield titled the tide back in Australia’s favor. Mooney made 64 off 49 balls with 10 regal boundaries, before all-rounders Ellyse Perry and Ashleigh Gardner notched up the winning runs together for Australia in just 17.1 overs with seven wickets to spare.
T20 World Cup 2026 ends on an underwhelming note
With Australia absolutely dominating England Women in a one-sided final at Lord’s, the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup ended on a rather underwhelming note.
While the final lacked the drama many had hoped for, it perfectly encapsulated Australia’s relentless excellence and enduring dominance on the biggest stage.
