Deepti Sharma made a huge leap on the ICC T20I bowler’s rankings. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is set to join the Indian national squad on June 22, i.e., just a day after the conclusion of the tri-series in Sri Lanka.

Pakistan Women punished after India defeat
The Pakistan Women’s team has been penalized by the International Cricket Council (ICC). As per a media release, the ICC has imposed a fine of five percent match fees on all Pakistan players for maintaining a slow over rate against India in their 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup match in Birmingham.

India Women also won the match by 64 runs to get off to a winning start in the multi-nation tournament in England.
Tilak Varma, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi to join India team on June 22
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Tilak Varma will join the Indian national squad on June 22 in Chennai before flying together to Belfast in Ireland. The two cricketers are currently in Sri Lanka as part of the India A team for the ongoing tri-series. While the tri series will conclude on June 21, the first T20I of the Ireland tour will be played on June 26 at the Stormont Cricket Ground in Belfast.
Sri Lanka A players punished for Vaibhav Sooryavanshi fight
Match referee Pradeep Jeyapragash has announced a sanction on Sri Lanka A players for their physical altercation with India A opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi during their tri-series match in Dambulla.
The referee punished all-rounder Vishen Halambage, and also imposed a fine on senior wicketkeeper-batter Niroshan Dickwella, albeit for a separate offence in the match. The exact nature of Niroshan Dickwella’s breach is yet to be determined.
Will Young replaces Kane Williamson in England series
New Zealand Cricket (NZC) has recalled 33-year-old Will Young into the national squad for the remainder of the ongoing Test series in England. The cricketer, who last played a Test match for New Zealand back in December 2025, will be replacing legendary batter Kane Williamson after the latter announced his retirement from all forms of the game.
Young has so far played 23 Tests for New Zealand, scoring 1,215 runs at an average of nearly 32 with 11 half-centuries.
Deepti Sharma goes big on ICC T20I rankings
Indian all-rounder Deepti Sharma gained five rungs to jump to number fifth spot on the latest ICC Women’s T20I rankings for bowlers. The ace spinner made the huge leap following her record match-winning spell against Pakistan at the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.
Fellow Indian spinner Shree Charani also gained five rungs to jump to number two position, with England’s Linsey Smith retaining her top spot on the ICC charts.
