Batting first, the Multan Sultans charted 159-9 in 20 overs. Both in-form openers Sahibzada Farhan (15 off 12) and Steve Smith (13 off 10) failed to get going on the big day as they were dismissed by Akif Javed and Mohammad Ali inside the powerplay. Shan Masood at number four top-scored in the innings with his regal 69* from 46 balls with four boundaries and four sixes. Mohammad Nawaz also scored handy runs in the backend of the innings.
