Vaibhav Sooryavanshi gets praise online [Source: X]
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is the name that resonated at Assam's Barasapara Stadium in the RCB vs RR IPL 2026 clash. The 15-year-old struck yet another 15-ball half-century to break his own record for the third time for the Rajasthan Royals.
Notably, he scored two half-centuries from 15 deliveries and one half-century from 17 balls while featuring for Rajasthan Royals, with Yashasvi Jaiswal holding the record in 2023 with a 13-ball half-century.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's record, though, came after he slammed the opponent bowlers with great might in the RCB vs RR clash. Josh Hazlewood, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Abhinandan Singh bore the brunt of the wonder kid’s mammoth destruction on April 10.

After Royal Challengers Bengaluru gave a target of 202 runs on the board with a lot of struggle in their early half of the game, Rajasthan Royals cruised past with ease inside the powerplay thanks to Sooryavanshi's destructive display.
In the first over, Bhuvneshwar Kumar was slammed for 9 runs, with Hazlewood conceding 12 runs in the second over but also picking up the early wicket of Yashasvi Jaiswal.

Nevertheless, the damage was then done by Sooryavanshi, with Abhinandan Singh getting smashed for 16 runs, followed by another 19-run over from Hazlewood.
Most of the runs came from Abhinandan Singh in the last over of the powerplay, as he conceded 24 runs, with both Dhruv Jurel and Sooryavanshi hammering the bowler for two sixes and three boundaries.
However, an opportunity was also created when Sooryavanshi was dropped for a catch by Phil Salt in the fifth over.

While it was a tough one, his 15-ball 53 came thanks to Salt's effort, but a dropped catch at the boundary line. The phenomenal display from the 15-year-old collected massive praise from the internet.
Let's take a look at how fans reacted to the bashing of Bengaluru bowlers in the powerplay:

RCB steady up to 201 after scary start
Earlier, Patidar & Co. looked fragile at the start of the RCB vs RR IPL 2026 clash. After Phil Salt went out for a golden duck, Devdutt Padikkal also departed early, with Bengaluru struggling at 62 for 4 by the end of 6.2 overs.
Virat Kohli scored a 16-ball 32, while Padikkal scored a 7-ball 14. It was only skipper Rajat Patidar's resistance in the middle order, as he scored 63 off 40 balls, that led to a solid comeback for Bengaluru.
Tim David, hero of the previous match, failed to impress. Yet, Venkatesh Iyer, the impact substitute, came in late to strike at 193.33 and push Bengaluru's total over the 200-run mark.
Nevertheless, the 97 runs scored by Vaibhav Sooryavanshi inside the powerplay while playing against Virat Kohli and Co. have already shattered the hopes of the visitors at Guwahati.
Now, at the time of writing, Dhruv Jurel and Sooryavanshi currently steer Rajasthan's chase, while RCB bowlers have turned out to be mere spectators.
