Rajasthan Royals' batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi extended his dream run in the IPL 2026. The explosive southpaw bludgeoned his way through to another impactful cameo when his side took on five-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians.

Led by Riyan Parag, Rajasthan Royals maintained their unbeaten streak, defeating Mumbai Indians comfortably by 27 runs.

After an incessant spell of rain reduced the game to an 11-over-per-side contest, the RR opening duo of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sooryavanshi played a pivotal role in powering their team to 150.

While Jaiswal bagged the Orange Cap following a stunning half-century, Sooryavanshi smacked 39 runs off just 14 balls. Thus, the 15-year-old wonder kid surpassed IPL legends like Andre Russell to create a historic IPL record.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi rains sixes in IPL 2026

Hailed for his incredible power-hitting abilities, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi had an outstanding start to the IPL 2026, hammering a clinical half-century against Chennai Super Kings.

The young batter breached the 50-run mark in just 15 deliveries with the help of four boundaries and five sixes.

He followed it up with a quick-fire 30-run cameo against Gujarat Titans before scoring 39 off just 14 balls against Mumbai Indians.

Interestingly, Sooryavanshi has already hit eleven sixes in the IPL 2026 and will add many more maximums to his tally as the tournament progress.

As he smashed five sixes against MI, Sooryavanshi surpassed the likes of Andre Russell, creating a phenomenal record in the IPL.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi creates remarkable six-hitting record

Statistically, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has hit 35 sixes in the IPL so far in just 10 innings. He has faced only 171 balls, thereby taking only 4.88 balls per six in the competition.

Sooryavanshi's balls per six ratio is the lowest among all batters who have played at least 20 balls in the IPL.

Thus, statistically, the 15-year-old has proved to be more dangerous than someone like Andre Russell, who has taken 6.8 deliveries per six in the IPL.

Batters with best balls-per-six ratio in IPL history (minimum 20 balls)

  • Vaibhav Sooryavanshi - 4.88
  • Romario Shepherd - 5.1
  • Urvil Patel: 5.3
  • Jake Fraser-McGurk: 6.4
  • Andre Russell: 6.8

As mentioned above, Sooryavanshi claims the top spot on the unique list of six-hitters, with Romario Shepherd, Urvil Patel, Jake Fraser-McGurk and Andre Russell occupying the subsequent slots.

This fact suggests that Sooryavanshi takes the lowest number of deliveries to hit a six, further establishing his stature as a genuine threat to the opposition.

He is one of the most nonchalant six-hitters the IPL has ever seen and he's expected to lead the super strikers' chart as the tournament progresses.

Riding on Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's scintillating hitting, Rajasthan Royals set a mammoth 151-run target for Mumbai Indians in the 13th IPL match.

In response, the five-time champions never got going and lost wickets at regular intervals, finishing their innings on 123 for nine in 11 overs.

Rajasthan Royals thus maintained their unbeaten streak and will take on RCB in their next group-stage match on April 10 at the Barsapara Stadium.
