In a significant development, a new update has emerged on the availability of MS Dhoni and Dewald Brevis for the Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2026. It is important to mention that CSK will next face the Delhi Capitals on April 11, 2026, at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
The Chennai Super Kings have had a difficult start to their campaign this season, suffering three consecutive defeats against the Rajasthan Royals, Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
The Chennai-based franchise is currently at the bottom of the IPL 2026 points table with an NRR of -2.517.
MS Dhoni, Dewald Brevis return date confirmed
It is vital to note that the South African batter Dewald Brevis missed the initial phase of the tournament after suffering a side strain during training. As a result, he was unavailable for CSK's first three matches against the Rajasthan Royals, Punjab Kings, and RCB.
However, as per the latest update (by RevSportzGlobal), Dewald Brevis is likely to return to the playing XI for the crucial clash against the Delhi Capitals, which will boost CSK's batting lineup.
On the other hand, MS Dhoni's fitness remains a concern. The veteran wicketkeeper-batter is still not match-fit, but reports suggest that Dhoni could make his return in the following match against the Kolkata Knight Riders on April 14.
MS Dhoni has been undergoing rehab for a calf muscle strain and missed the start of the IPL 2026. According to the same reports, Dhoni underwent a fitness test a few days ago, and it is likely that CSK do not want to rush his return and might organise another fitness test for him.
If he clears the test, MS Dhoni is likely to be part of the playing XI against KKR on April 14.

Dewald Brevis's performance in IPL
Talking about Brevis, the star player has played 6 matches in IPL 2025 for CSK. He made 225 runs at an average of 37.50 and a strike-rate of 180.00.
Brevis was also part of the recent T20 World Cup 2026, playing for South Africa. He played 7 innings and made 207 runs at a strike-rate of 146.81 and an average of 29.57.

So if Brevis is included, there is a chance he might play at no.4, with Kartik Sharma making way for him in the team.
