India's recent performances have raised several concerns, with the team struggling to deliver consistent results under head coach Gautam Gambhir.
India's disappointing 2-0 T20I series defeat against Ireland, followed by another underwhelming display in the ongoing five-match T20I series against England, has raised immense questions about the coaching setup.
These back-to-back setbacks have reportedly forced the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to review the current coaching structure.
Changes Expected In India’s Backroom Team
The Indian cricket team could soon witness significant changes behind the scenes, as at least one key member of Gautam Gambhir’s support staff is expected to leave.
Reports suggest that another member of the coaching group could also move on, making this a major shake-up in India's backroom setup.
It is still unclear whether the expected departure is due to personal reasons, dissatisfaction with the current role, or an opportunity to take up another coaching assignment.
According to an exclusive report from the Times of India, the support staff reshuffle is already being discussed, with at least one prominent figure likely to part ways with the team soon.
It is also important to mention that one member of the coaching staff is in discussions with an IPL franchise and will likely part ways with the the Indian Team to be part of the cash-rich league.

Why Could India's Coaching Staff Undergo Major Changes?
Gautam Gambhir and his coaching team started their journey with the Indian side in 2024. However, bowling coach Morne Morkel joined the setup a few months later.
It is vital to note that according to the same reports, these changes and developments are not directly linked to India’s recent defeats against Ireland and England.
Instead, the situation has reportedly been developing for several months.
The atmosphere within the dressing room has become challenging since India’s home Test series defeat to South Africa. There have been several differences in opinions, and things have been bitter between the selection committee and the coaching group led by Gautam Gambhir.
So this is one of the major reasons that India’s coaching staff might see a massive change.
Is BCCI Looking At Other Coaching Options?
Recently, BCCI decided to send a different coaching group, led by VVS Laxman, for the Zimbabwe tour and the Asian Games instead of Gambhir’s regular support staff. So there is a chance the board is exploring several other options, as changes are expected in the the near future.
“I don’t quite understand the need to send VVS Laxman to Zimbabwe. I also do not understand the plan to send him for the Asian Games. There is clearly more than meets the eye, and perhaps the Indian cricket board is exploring options,” the source said to Times of India.
BCCI Reviewing Team’s Recent Performances
Following India’s disappointing run, the BCCI has reportedly begun assessing the work of the coaching staff, including head coach Gautam Gambhir.
The board is believed to be closely monitoring the team's performances and is expected to take a call on the coaching setup after reviewing the recent results.
