Dewald Brevis blasted 75* runs off just 32 balls against Zimbabwe in the second match of the Namibia T20I tri-series 2026 in Windhoek. The innings marked Dewald’s second successive fifty of the series, and the fourth 50-plus score of his T20I career for South Africa.

However, unlike his effort against hosts Namibia, Dewald’s half-century against Zimbabwe yielded a comprehensive victory for the South African team as they returned to their winning ways. 

As one can expect, a legion of cricket fans soon flocked to social media to express their admirations for the 23-year-old and his newfound consistency in T20I cricket.

Fans praise Dewald Brevis for Namibia T20I tri-series heroics

Dewald Brevis clubbed 75 unbeaten runs off just 32 balls against Zimbabwe bowlers in the second match of the Namibia T20I tri-series 2026. Chasing 145 and batting at number three, the cricketer launched seven cracking boundaries and six scorching maximums at the Namibia Cricket Ground in Windhoek.

His innings helped South Africa make lightwork of Zimbabwe’s 144-run total, as the Proteas blazed past their target with seven wickets to spare in just 13.4 overs.

The innings marked Dewald’s third T20I half-century, and his second in succession in the series to earn much admirations from fans for his consistency. When Dewald Brevis failed to take South Africa home

Just a day earlier at the very same Windhoek venue, Dewald Brevis fired 75 runs off just 50 balls while batting at number three for South Africa against hosts Namibia. 

However, despite his spirited efforts, Brevis failed to take South Africa home in the opening match of the 2026 T20I tri-series on Friday. The cricketer punched out the lone half-century of the South African innings, and received little-to-no assistance from the rest of his teammates as the Proteas fell 18 runs short of their target. 

Dewald Brevis “relieved” with South Africa win

Winning the ‘Player of the Match’ award at the post-match presentation ceremony, Brevis reacted to South Africa’s welcome win over Zimbabwe after losing to Namibia in the opening match of the T20I tri-series in Windhoek.

While speaking with the commentator, the cricketer said “It's great to get off to a win. Extremely grateful for it. Ya, we showed some improvement today be it in the field, with the ball and also with the bat. Great to see us get a win here.”

The 23-year-old also added that he is enjoying the conditions at the Namibia Cricket Ground, and expressed his gratitude over the support received by the South Africa cricket team.

Brevis will now turn up for South Africa in their third match of the series by taking on Zimbabwe on September 1 at the same venue.
