MS Dhoni Robin Uthappa for CSK Tim David Virat Kohli for RCB. Image Credits: X/AFPFormer India cricketer Robin Uthappa came under severe criticism for his one post on X with regards to Tim David’s brutal knock for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the ongoing IPL 2026.RCB batted first in this match on April 5 at Bengaluru's M Chinnaswamy Stadium after Ruturaj Gaikwad of CSK won the toss and chose to bowl. The choice backfired, though, as the RCB batters destroyed the CSK bowlers in every area of the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Before being dismissed, Virat Kohli took the lead and hit 28 runs in just 18 balls. Devdutt Padikkal scored fifty, and Phil Salt also scored forty-six before the real storm hit the Chinnaswamy.Tim David's special knock blows the wind out of CSK bowlersAfter Devdutt’s dismissal, CSK fans might have breathed a sigh of relief, but then RCB captain Rajat Patidar and Australia’s Tim David got together and added 99 unbeaten runs in no time. Patidar made 48* in 19 balls with 1 four and 6 sixes, while David destroyed the CSK attack with 70* in 25 balls with 3 fours and 8 huge sixes. This propelled RCB’s score to 250/3 in 20 overs.Sarfaraz Khan scored 50 runs in 25 balls, while Jacob Duffy, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Krunal Pandya reduced the yellow army to 77/4 as RCB bowlers destroyed the Chennai Super Kings' (CSK) innings.Ayush Mhatre was dismissed for one, Ruturaj Gaikwad for seven, Sanju Samson for nine, and Kartik Sharma for just seven runs. It was only because of Jamie Overton’s 37 and Prashant Veer’s 43 that CSK managed a decent 207 runs and lost by only 43 runs.Robin Uthappa agrees with the analysis of Tim David’s sixes for RCB v CSK; fans take him to the cleanersMeanwhile an X (formerly Twitter) account analyzed Tim David’s sixes and made an interesting observation. He pointed out that 7 of his 8 sixes came off hit-me balls, deliveries that were bowled in his hitting area, and he didn’t have to do much. The analyst also slammed CSK’s poor bowling for putting the ball right in the area where David likes it.Robin Uthappa agreed with the analyst’s observation that Tim David’s sixes were easy ones and he didn’t have to do much to hit those 8 maximums.Arun Gopalakrishnan @statanalyst If you're honest with analysing Tim David's sixes last night, he was feasting on a buffet! 7 of his 8 sixes came off HIT-ME balls. I haven't seen such poor execution in a long long time! #RCBvCSK #IPL2026 Robbie Uthappa @robbieuthappa Facts!! However, this observation by Robin Uthappa didn’t sit well with the fans, and they slammed him on XI, often asking him how many sixes he had hit in particular matches, especially the 2009 IPL final against the Deccan Chargers, when Uthappa played for the RCB team. Also Read: After Dewald Brevis, MS Dhoni, Another CSK Player Falls To InjuryHere are the reactions:Arjun malli @chill49348 @robbieuthappa How many hit me ball sir Apr 7, 2026, 10:48 AM Sporty Bets @SportyStats4U @robbieuthappa Imagine being a professional cricketer and belittling someone's batting performance. What else was Tim David supposed to do? Just stop playing those loose balls? If it's that easy why did you not ever do it? I'm sure you must have faced 7 hit me balls in your career at least RyuseiShidou @RShidou40332 @robbieuthappa Sir why is Vaibhav Suryavanshi beating the shit out of your CSK , you told that everyone will find him out in 2nd season ? Or did your opinions also shat your pants just like you did in 2009 IPL finals ? Amith @Amith80699762 @robbieuthappa This asshole struggled to hit a six for a spinner instead of taking singles in 2009 ipl final and he is talking about facts ..... Joker 🤡🤡 Billy🔱 @karnaaa04 @robbieuthappa Tim David can hit those sixes . But you can't 🤣🤣🤣 n @Nitin__10 Dhoni used to feast on Corey Anderson, Grandhomme, Umesh Yadav btw 😭😭 🚀🚀 @P4BL0G4V1_ very unprofessional coming from an ex Indian cricketer. Dhoni's knocks against RCB in 2018 and 2019 came against similar bowling attavks if not worse. should rather question CSK's bowling than downplay Tim David who was actually ruthless Akash @Akashkumarjha14 Breaking News: Big strong guy hits 6s off buffet bowling & that makes him somehow bad. Finishers' primary job is exactly this, more efficient they are at hitting junk pace bowling, tougher they are to shut down at pace because there are only handful of Bowlers who can stop them.
