Despite being one of the most star-studded IPL franchises at present, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) saw plenty of injury woes before and in the middle of IPL 2026.
Still, the Orange Army managed to enjoy a five-match winning streak, which led them to qualify for the IPL 2026 playoffs. However, the Pat Cummins-led side lost to Rajasthan Royals in the IPL Eliminator, getting knocked out of the competition.
SRH's IPL 2027 Strategy Centers On Fitness
Like Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Delhi Capitals (DC), SRH are reportedly set to have fitness camps for IPL 2027 squad selection. If that becomes a criterion to confirm a place in the upcoming edition’s squad, some of the players face serious heat to be out of SRH’s future.
In this article, we take a look at five prominent candidates who might not be in SRH’s IPL 2027 squad, based on their IPL price, fitness woes and performance.
Shivam Mavi - IPL 2026 Price - INR 75 Lakh
Shivam Mavi, who was once paid a whopping INR 7.25 crore contract by KKR, did not play a single match for SRH in IPL 2026 due to a groin injury.
Later on, in the middle of IPL 2026, SRH signed talented 19-year-old RS Ambrish for the rest of the season.
Now, with the rise of Praful Hinge and Sakib Hussain, SRH might not need another young, promising Indian pacer, particularly someone like Mavi, who often misses out due to injury troubles despite the fact that he could only cost INR 75 lakh for the last edition.
Jack Edwards - IPL 2026 Price - INR 3 Crore
After doing so well in BBL over the years, Jack Edwards was rewarded with his first-ever IPL contract before IPL 2026. SRH spent INR 3 crore to acquire his services. Unfortunately for him, he was ruled out of IPL 2026 due to a foot injury.

Edwards was primarily bought as a cover for Pat Cummins, who had injury concerns before IPL 2026. He could not do much in MLC 2026, leaking 10.12 runs an over in the competition while taking six wickets in five matches for Washington Freedom.
Besides, Edwards wasted all four opportunities with the bat in hand in MLC 2026, tallying only 12 runs at 70.59.
David Payne - IPL 2026 Price - INR 1.5 Crore
Signed for INR 1.5 crore, David Payne came as an IPL 2026 replacement for Jack Edwards. However, just after playing two matches, the 35-year-old was ruled out of the entire competition due to an ankle injury.
Payne, now aged 35, is no longer in the mix in the franchise league these days, primarily due to injury concerns. Thus, SRH would surely find someone younger and better than Payne for IPL 2027.
Harshal Patel - IPL 2026 Price - INR 8 Crore
Once a Purple Cap winner, Harshal Patel seemed totally out of touch in IPL 2026. Good for SRH, two young sensations, Praful Hinge and Sakib Hussain, rose up to the occasion to cover his woes.
Given the fact that SRH paid INR 8 crore for IPL 2026, it is very unlikely that he will keep his place in the IPL 2027 squad.
Liam Livingstone - IPL 2026 Price - INR 13 Crore
Even though Liam Livingstone was named the Player of the Tournament after the T20 Blast 2026, his underwhelming show in two limited IPL 2026 opportunities made the world believe he is no longer the same at the highest stage.
Besides, his INR 13 crore price tag in IPL 2026 has been a concern to secure a place in SRH’s IPL 2027 squad.
