Injuries have constantly followed the Sunrisers Hyderabad camp in the IPL 2026 as one player after another has been getting injured. It started with skipper Pat Cummins, who had back issues, and the captain missed half of the season, with Ishan Kishan leading the team.
David Payne, another pacer got ruled out of the tournament due to an ankle injury, and with half the IPL season over, SRH’s campaign hit a roadblock with yet another injury crisis.
Shivam Mavi ruled out, replacement announced
In the latest development, right-arm Indian pacer Shivam Mavi has been ruled out of the IPL 2026 due to a groin injury, and the franchise has replaced him with the talented RS Ambrish.
The injury replacement was announced on the official IPL website, as the Orange Army have picked the India Under-19 star to replace the injured pacer.
An all-rounder by profession, Ambrish was part of India’s Under-19 World Cup triumph in 2026, and finished as India’s highest wicket-taker in the tournament with 11 wickets. The all-rounder was picked by SRH for INR 30 lakh as he aims to make his mark in the ongoing season.

Know RS Ambrish, the new SRH star
Born in 2007, made his name playing for the India Under-19 side. He recently made his First-Class debut, but it was in the shortest format where he became a promising star and was eventually scouted by the Sunrisers.
It was with the ball in the Under-19 World Cup this year that RS Ambrish showcased his real talent. The all-rounder played seven games in the competition and plucked 11 wickets, with an average of 20.64.
He played a pivotal part in India’s success as the team captured the trophy in a dominant fashion.
Mavi's injury-ridden career continues
Mavi was one of the most prominent Indian Under-19 pacer when he made his debut, but over the last few years, things have gone downhill for the right-arm seamer.
This is not the first time Mavi has been ruled out of an IPL season. He was picked by the Lucknow Super Giants ahead of IPL 2024, but the pacer was ruled out for the entire campaign with an injury.
Mavi has struggled with chronic injury concerns throughout his career, and a fresh injury in the middle of the IPL has once again hampered his career.
List of injuries suffered by SRH players in IPL 2026
Mavi is not the first SRH pacer to have suffered an injury in the ongoing IPL season. Before the start of the campaign, the franchise suffered a huge jolt as their skipper, Pat Cummins was ruled out for half of the season.
The Australian was nursing a back injury since 2025 mid, and he was only cleared to play after the halfway mark in the IPL.
Moreover, David Payne, the left-arm seamer was also ruled out of the tournament, and South African seamer, Gerald Coetzee was named as replacement by the franchise.
Also, English pacer, Brydon Carse suffered the same fate as SRH have been dealing with constant injuries.
