South Africa probable playing XI Vs NZ [Source: AFP]
The New Zealand vs South Africa T20I series is evenly poised as both sides have won a game each, and the caravan now shifts towards the third T20I at Eden Park, Auckland. While the visitors dominated the proceedings in the series opener, it was the hosts who levelled things up with a win in the second T20I.
South Africa won the first T20I, but they lacked the conviction. Similarly, they were decimated in the second game, and their confidence is at an all-time low. For the crucial third game of the series on Friday, the team needs a rejig, and here is how they could lineup for the crucial third T20I.
South Africa probable XI Vs New Zealand- 3rd T20I
Openers and top order: Wiaan Mulder, Conor Esterhuizen, Tony de Zorzi
South Africa’s batting has generally been poor in the ongoing series, and the team doesn’t have too many solid replacements in the batting department. The experiment to promote Wiaan Mulder as opener didn’t work in the second T20I, but there is potential in the move, and he might continue to open in the rest of the series.
Alongside him, keeper-batter Conor Esterhuizen will open. He failed in the last match, but delivered in the first T20I of the series with an unbeaten knock. The batter is yet to fully justify his skills, but the Proteas will continue to back him in the longer run.
However, the team could be tempted to make one change with no room for the 28-year-old, Tony de Zorzi. The batter has struggled in the ongoing series, with his scores being 1, and 2, respectively. However, there is a catch: there is no like-for-like replacement on the bench.
Bowling all-rounders are warming the bench, and the team has not announced Jordan Hermann’s replacement. As a result, de Zorzi might get another chance to prove his worth.
Middle order and all-rounders: Rubin Hermann, Jason Smith, Dian Forrester, George Linde
The South African middle-order has been exposed in front of the Kiwi bowlers, but as said before, the team doesn’t have solid replacements. Rubin Hermann and Jason Smith will be in charge of the attacking cricket as the two batters have the ability to take down any attack.

Promising batter Dian Forrester will look to get some runs under his belt after the disastrous two games, and George Linde will have the finishing responsibilities. The middle-order batters need to step up, if the Proteas are to score big in 3rd T2OI.
Bowlers: Gerald Coetzee, Keshav Maharaj, Ottneil Baartman, Nqobani Mokoena
Bowlers from both sides have dominated the proceedings in the two T2OI matches, and hence, expect no changes in the lineup, unless an injury takes place. Coetzee has been the leader of the pace attack, and has been superb for the Proteas, while Maharaj has been brilliant on smaller New Zealand grounds.
In Ottneil Baartman, Nqobani Mokoena, the South African side has two promising bowlers, and both have done well in the series against the New Zealand team.
There are a couple of bowlers warming the bench, but expect no change for the crucial 3rd T20I.
