The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is nothing but a circus, particularly because of the fact that their own players, regardless of active or retired, keep on blaming the Mohsin Naqvi-led board for poor show in domestic, as well as in international cricket.
There was a new addition to the rebel group that tore apart Mohsin Naqvi’s PCB, though this was not the first time he had attacked the PCB.
More significantly, the cricketer who ripped apart Mohsin Naqvi’s PCB is yet to retire from playing for Pakistan. His only retirement came from the Pakistan Super League (PSL), which he announced in December 2023.
Ahmed Shehzad Makes No-Holds-Barred Mockery Of PCB
In a video shared on social media, Ahmed Shehzad showed no mercy toward Mohsin Naqvi. The 34-year-old, who last played a Test match and ODI for Pakistan in 2017 and a T20I in 2019, highlighted why PSL is struggling to grow, and is nowhere near the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Shehzad, who was once projected as the next big thing in Pakistan cricket, highlighted the average age of PSL’s foreign players. He highlighted that some of PSL overseas players are even ‘commentators’, while IPL has all the superstars available in global cricket.
“The IPL’s edge lies in its active superstars who drive real competition. In contrast, the PSL turns retired players and commentators into ‘stars’, which doesn’t create the same competitive intensity," Shehzad said.

“IPL is better than PSL. There are many superstars in their league who make it more competitive, while PSL mostly has retired players,” Shehzad added.
PSL In News Lately Due To Australians' Travel
Recently, PSL has been in the news due to a potential security risk for travel to Pakistan. No wonder the PCB was questioned for safety, and thankfully, they will all travel to play PSL 11.
PSL 11 will get underway on March 26, with Lahore Qalandars and Hyderabad Kingsmen going up against each other to kick off the proceedings. The final will be played in Lahore, on May 3.
PSL Vs IPL Schedule Clash Again
With PSL going underway on March 26, IPL 2026 will be up and running on March 28. Defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will be in action in the curtain raiser of the tournament, against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
This is nothing new, as PSL and IPL have been picking the same windows lately. Earlier, PSL used to happen in a different window, but in recent years, the PCB has been announcing the same window, making life tougher for overseas options.
With lucrative opportunities in IPL – cricket’s biggest extravaganza - foreign players mostly prefer the Indian T20 League. Hence, the statements Shehzad passed are fair and logical, and the PCB, headed by Mohsin Naqvi, must do something about that to revive the PSL.
