Punjab Kings are all set to host Mumbai Indians in the 58th clash of the IPL 2026 season. The match will be held at HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala on May 14 at 7:30 PM IST.

The Mumbai Indians are already out of the playoff race after they lost a last-ball thriller against RCB at Raipur last week. Still, they will be keen to fight for their pride.

On the other hand, the stakes are high for PBKS in this game, as their playoff qualification odds took a huge hit with four back-to-back losses. They dropped to the fourth spot on the points table with 13 points in 11 games.

For Punjab, their bowling has repeatedly failed to defend big totals. Hence, that will be an area of concern that Shreyas Iyer will need to address. 

Apart from that, the franchise has also come under heavy criticism lately for the unprofessional conduct of players. All things combined, the upcoming game against MI becomes crucial for PBKS.

Top Order - Priyansh Arya, Prabhsimran Singh, Shreyas Iyer

Recently, Prabhsimran Singh was criticised for allegedly putting on 10 kgs of weight as journalists accused him of being unprofessional. Due to these revelations, speculations about Singh’s future in the team were raised.

However, currently, PBKS’ best bet for an explosive opening duo is Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh. The duo have given strong starts to the team in the tournament, and with playoffs at stake, Punjab would avoid taking any risks.

At no. 3 in the PBKS Playing XI vs MI, captain Shreyas Iyer will back himself undoubtedly. He has scored 392 runs in 10 innings with a 56.00 average.
