As the IPL 2026 took to the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala, the Punjab Kings suffered yet another defeat — their fourth on the bounce to lose their early advantage in the season. Having previously gone 7 matches unbeaten to start the tournament, now PBKS sit fourth on the table with 13 points to their name.

With the tournament already in its business end, 8 teams are still alive, with all four spots up for grabs. Just when PBKS had a chance to get another win under the belt after what looked like a par score of 210/5 in 20 overs, the fielders disappointed yet again, and DC chased down the target with an over in hand.

Shreyas Iyer looked good for his 59*(36), alongside Arshdeep Singh's 2/21 in his four overs on the night as the senior pros, but overall, the Capitals did enough to dampen the spirits in the PBKS camp.

Nonetheless, their destiny remains in their hands with the final three games still to go. As they look to secure a spot in the playoffs, below are the playoff qualification scenarios for PBKS.

How can Punjab Kings qualify for the IPL 2026 playoffs?

The Shreyas Iyer-led PBKS unit got off to a 7-game unbeaten run to start IPL 2026, on the back of their run to the 2025 final. Following that start, they would have liked to finish in the Qualifier 1 spots to give themselves two shots at reaching the final.

A top-4 finish is usually secured at 16 points, and the Punjab Kings (13) need two wins in three matches to secure a playoff finish.

After losing four in a row, PBKS' goal-post has shifted a bit, and their primary aim of finishing in Qualifier 1 spots has now turned into aiming for a top-4 spot finish. Three wins in three games could further put them in Qualifier 1.

What are Punjab Kings' remaining matches in IPL 2026?

The Punjab Kings have three matches to be played following their loss at the hands of the Delhi Capitals as they remain at 4. Among the three remaining fixtures, they only have one match against the top-2 contenders, i.e., the Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala.

The two remaining matches will be played against the already knocked out Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants — one at home in Dharamsala and one away in Lucknow, respectively.
