CSK vs SRH Predictions [Source: AP]
In the race towards the IPL 2026 playoffs, the Chennai Super Kings host Sunrisers Hyderabad on Monday, May 18, at 7:30 PM (IST) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
Currently, SRH are placed 3rd on the table with 14 points in 12 matches, while CSK have 12 in 12 matches. Both sides have their destiny in their own hands, but SRH are the ones looking for a potential top-2 finish to contest in Qualifier 1, while CSK will look to secure top-4 primarily.
Ahead of the fixture, we explore what to expect from the match to start the fresh week.
Sanju Samson has completed 450 runs in this IPL season at a strike rate of 164.23 with two centuries and a fifty. His presence will be of utmost importance for CSK to stay alive in the tournament. On the other hand, Pat Cummins would like to lead his team from the front with an early wicket to put his team in the driver’s seat.
Previously, Samson has only scored 23 off 18 against Cummins, but has never been dismissed.
Heinrich Klaasen is the only middle-order batter in the top-5 of the Orange Cap race, having scored 508 runs in 12 innings. He will be the aggressor in the middle-overs, where Noor Ahmad will be operating. Previously, Klaasen has dominated this battle in IPL with 67 runs in 29 balls without being dismissed. This battle could dictate the result of the match as well.
Despite a slow start to IPL 2026, Travis Head has returned to form recently and has 361 runs in 12 innings at a strike rate of 171.09. If he gets going, he will single-handedly run away with the match. In the absence of Jamie Overton, the onus to stop Travis Head will be on Spencer Johnson, who will bowl in the powerplay and has a point to prove after a long injury layoff.
MS Dhoni has scored 436 runs in 18 innings at a strike rate of 150.34 and has four fifties to his name.
Mukesh Choudhary has picked 7 wickets in 5 innings against the opponent with an economy rate of 11.37 runs per over.

Jaydev Unadkat has picked 4 wickets in 3 innings at an economy rate of 8.12 runs per over, with the best figures of 2/21.
The MA Chidambaram Stadium, famously known as the Chepauk, has been a high-scoring venue in recent years, with over 180 scores chasable on most days. This year, six matches have been played here, and four have been won batting second. Following the trend, the team winning the toss would prefer to bowl first.
