Riyan Parag, the Rajasthan Royals captain, had a horrendous start to his IPL 2026 campaign as he struggled for runs. Despite the RR team performing extraordinarily well on the field and winning their first four matches, Parag was not able to contribute with the bat for his team.
However, he roared back in form with a stunning 90 against the Delhi Capitals, a few days ago, and then, in the reverse fixture against the Capitals, he once again smashed a whirlwind fifty to remind people about his talent and skills.
While he punished the Delhi Capitals bowlers with utmost ease, he also disrespected the DC side with his fifty celebration.

When Madhav Tiwari dismissed the dangerous Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Parag walked into the crease, with the RR scoreline reading at 89/2. He hardly took any time to settle in as the captain started on an aggressive note, and was particularly severe on Axar Patel, and Mukesh Kumar.
He hammered 5 humongous sixes to reach his fifty-run mark, with a strike rate of 196, and while everyone was applauding Parag for his outstanding knock, the RR captain disrespected the opponent with his celebration.
The Assam batter looked into the eyes of the DC players and made a gesture that appeared to say “I stand on a different level compared to you.”
Parag used a hand gesture to suggest he was playing on a level as compared to others.

Parag attains huge feat with fifty vs DC
RR had a week off, and it might have helped Parag recharge. He came back strong, hitting the DC bowlers hard and dominating the game. He reached the fifty-milestone in just 23 balls, and this was his fastest half-century in IPL history.

Not the first time Parag has insulted an opponent with his celebration
This is not the first time Parag has created a controversy in the field. During a SMAT game between Bengal and Assam, the Assam player, Parag, smashed a fifty, and for some reason, he gestured towards the pavilion, and the players, and did the viral celebration, indicating that he is better than everyone else.
This viral celebration generated attention, and the fans and experts criticised Parag for mocking others.
