In IPL 2026, we have witnessed some breathtaking catches that have stunned the audience. Some of those grabs have been unreal, as the reaction time is almost zero, while some players have taken catches wherein they have risked it all.

One such incident occurred in the SRH Vs KKR IPL 2026 match, and the player was the KKR all-rounder, Rovman Powell, who risked it all, and managed to take a screamer to dismiss the dangerous Heinrich Klaasen at a crucial juncture.

Powell risks his life to grab IPL 2026 catch of the tournament contender

Klaasen has been in some form in the ongoing IPL 2026, as the batter has played some blinder, and has been the saviour for the SRH side. His wicket was crucial for the Knight Riders, but it needed a magical catch to send him back to the pavilion.

Cameron Green, the KKR bowler, delivered a short of a length ball as Klaasen pulled it neatly, and for a second, it felt as if the ball would go past the boundary ropes. However, Powell had some other plans as he ran across to his right from the deep mid-wicket region, and throws himself in the air to take a one-handed screamer.

He seemed to have lost the ball in the sunlight, but the fielder managed to take the catch perfectly with just one hand. The replays made the grab look easy, but Powell fell on the ground hard, and his sunglasses also fell off.

While taking the catch, he tumbled, and his head hit the ground as Powell looked a bit unsettled. He put his life at risk as the sunglasses could have struck his eyes, before they fell off.

Powell's grab leads to SRH crumble

SRH was 117/2 inside 10.4 overs when Powell grabbed one of the best IPL catches ever. Klaasen was looking solid, and the South African would have taken the game away from KKR, had he not been dismissed.

However, that one-handed screamer changed KKR’s fortunes as one wicket brought the downfall of two more batters. Once Klaasen was sent packing, Smaran Ravichandran, the SRH debutant was dismissed five runs later (122), and it was followed by Aniket Verma’s wicket (135).

From going at a net run-rate of nearly 11, Klaasen’s wicket put the brakes on the scoring rate as the net run-rate came down to 9.27.

IPL 2026 has witnessed some outstanding catches

IPL 2026 has witnessed some unreal takes, and Powell has joined the list with his risky attempt against the Knight Riders.

In the very first IPL 2026 game between RCB and SRH, Phil Salt produced the early catch of the tournament as he ran to his right and took a stunner at the boundary ropes. The IPL fans also witnessed Shreyas Iyer’s sublime efforts in match 24 vs MI.

KKR fielder, Anukul Roy also makes the cut with his outstanding diving catch to dismiss Rohit Sharma, and T Natarajan also shares the dressing room after his backward running catch in the DC Vs RCB match 39.
