MI predicted playing XI Vs KKR [Source: AFP]
Mumbai Indians were among the favourites to win the IPL 2026 title before the season commenced; however, things went from bad to worse with each passing game, as the Hardik Pandya-led side crashed out of the playoff race without putting up a fight.
The team has made changes in almost every IPL 2026 match and has not settled on a proper combination. Injuries to key players like Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya have not helped their cause either, as the team faces a crisis.
On Wednesday, the Mumbai Indians will play their 13th match in the IPL 2026 as they take on the Kolkata Knight Riders, who are aiming for a playoffs place.
The remaining two IPL 2026 matches provide MI a chance to test their bench strength, and here is Mumbai Indians’ strongest XI for the clash vs KKR.
MI playing XI Vs KKR, IPL 2026, match 65
Openers and top order: Ryan Rickelton, Naman Dhir, Tilak Varma
There is no denying that Ryan Rickelton, the South African batter, has been the best player of the Mumbai Indians side this season. He has a century to his name, and has led the MI batting lineup with his aggressive intent.
There is Rohit Sharma in the scheme of things, but he has a slight niggle, and expect the MI great to come in as an impact player.
Apart from Rickelton, Naman Dhir has been Mumbai’s second-best player with the bat, and he’ll also bat at the top as the former IPL winners need an aggressor.
Tilak Varma, who struggled in the initial few IPL games, has been in fine touch as of late, and the Mumbai side could use him at number 3 in the clash against KKR.
Middle order and all-rounders: Suryakumar Yadav, Will Jacks, Hardik Pandya
Suryakumar Yadav has been struggling throughout the campaign, but the Mumbai Indians star has two more games to redeem himself before the international T20Is begin. He missed the last game vs PBKS, but the player has joined the squad and he will play in the IPL match vs KKR.
Hardik Pandya has been out for a while with a back injury, but according to the latest report, the captain of the side is fit, and he could slot in the middle-order for the IPL 2026 MI Vs KKR match.
Alongside him, there is Will Jacks, who can play the role of a finisher. He can also be used as a floater by the Mumbai Indians side, depending on the match situation.

Bowlers: Corbin Bosch, Deepak Chahar, Jasprit Bumrah, Shardul Thakur, Raghu Sharma
In the last few IPL 2026 matches, two of MI’s main bowlers, Deepak Chahar, and Corbin Bosch have done well, and against the Knight Riders, they’ll once again hold the key for the team.
Mumbai’s lead pacer, Jasprit Bumrah has taken just 3 wickets in 12 matches and has been woefully out of touch. Ahead of the international matches, Bumrah would be eager to get back amongst the wicket-takers, and the IPL match against KKR provides him a chance to do that.
Raghu Sharma will be the spin-bowler in the MI lineup, and he'll be used as an impact substitute alongside Rohit Sharma.
