There are not many days when a team lose after posting 429 runs on the day, but England did against Sri Lanka in the previous match of the Tri-Series in Pakistan 2026. The Harry Brook-led side is the only team that has yet to open their account.

As the second phase of the double round-robin tournament begins, England will again face the hosts, but this time in Lahore in a much-awaited clash on Sunday.

Nevertheless, in this article, we will analyse England's Playing XI vs Pakistan for Match 4 of the Tri-Series 2026, scheduled for Sunday in Lahore.

Top Order: Tom Banton, Ben Duckett, Joe Root

Tom Banton has already scored two half-centuries, so there is no doubt about his spot in the England Playing XI vs Pakistan. However, since both knocks came in losing causes, the stylish right-hander will also look to convert his starts into a big one.

Speaking of starts, Ben Duckett also needs to turn his early blitz into a match-winning outing on Sunday. Although the last game against Pakistan was his first ODI vs them, he loves batting against the Men in Green overall.

Joe Root is having a stumpedous time in ODI cricket this year. Only India's Shubman Gill has scored more runs in the format than he has. He looked in great touch even in the last game, making him a star pick in the ENG Playing XI vs PAK.

Middle Order & All-Rounders: Harry Brook, Jordon Cox, Will Jacks, Sam Curran

Harry Brook scored the fastest double ton the other day, but later that night, he became the first double-centurion whose efforts went in vain. He played a near-perfect innings of 202, with 93 runs coming in the death overs. Although Brook, the batter, was brilliant, his captaincy was questionable.

Jordon Cox didn't come out to bat in the last match, but he didn't contribute in the game prior to that. He needs to do something special as he is an integral part of the middle order in the England Playing XI vs Pakistan.

Will Jacks, the batter, played a remarkable knock as a finisher against Sri Lanka, but his bowling was taken to all corners of the park. The all-rounder would need to bounce back at Lahore.

Despite Sam Curran returning with 2 for 103 in his nine overs, the fast-bowling all-rounder will be a vital cog of the ENG Playing XI vs PAK.

Bowlers: Jamie Overton, Josh Tongue, Adil Rashid, Sonny Baker

Jamie Overton was one of the better bowlers against Sri Lanka in the previous clash. Although he bagged only a single wicket, he will try to contribute in the upcoming do-or-die clash.

Like Overton, Josh Tongue was one of the better bowlers in the previous game. He took three wickets, two came in the last over, but he also bowled a half-volley that let Sri Lanka cross the line. Still, he will be retained in the ENG Playing XI vs PAK.

Adil Rashid, who was rested in the last game, would return in place of Liam Dawson. Meanwhile, the young Sonny Baker will likely replace Gus Atkinson in the England Playing XI vs Pakistan.
