Harry Brook played a one-of-a-kind knock on Thursday, smashing 202 runs off 116 balls in England’s ODI Tri-Series match against Sri Lanka in Rawalpindi, Pakistan. He smashed 10 sixes and 21 fours during his rampant innings, helping England reach 429/4 batting first.

However, Sri Lanka, riding on Pavan Rathnayake’s century, ably supported by Janith Liyanage, Avishka Fernando and Dasun Shanaka, chased down a historic target with a ball and two wickets to spare.

Harry Brook Admits Sri Lanka's Dominance

Speaking at the post-match presentation, Brook, England’s white-ball captain, lauded how England were simply outplayed by Sri Lanka during the run-chase.

At the same time, he also highlighted the fact that his knock, which hogged all the limelight, had no meaning in the end.

"Incredible game of cricket, both teams were exceptional. Sri Lanka just outplayed us. They played exceptional cricket to knock off 400," Brook said.

"It was a nice innings but being on the losing side it has no value whatsoever in my eyes. We got to get back to the drawing board a little bit, and we have an opportunity in the next couple of games to nail down a place in the final," he added.

Brook Tops Unwanted List After Double Century

Besides, Brook became the first ever player to score a double century in ODIs, and ended up on a losing side.

Rohit Sharma, Martin Guptill, Shubman Gill, Virender Sehwag, Chris Gayle, Fakhar Zaman, Pathum Nissanka, Ishan Kishan, Sachin Tendulkar and Glenn Maxwell all had double centuries in ODIs, but no one ended up losing the match.
