The Tri-Series in Pakistan 2026 is set to kick off on Sunday between the hosts and Sri Lanka at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.

Although the upcoming tournament is being played as preparation for the 2027 World Cup, the Men in Green will use the opportunity for a good cause.

As part of the Pinktober, the Pakistan team will don a pink jersey to raise awareness about breast cancer during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Pakistan wear pink kit to spread breast cancer awareness

During the second round-robin clash vs England on October 25, the hosts Pakistan will don a pink jersey at the Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.

The Shaheen Afridi-led Pakistan team will wear the pink jersey to raise awareness of breast cancer in the country. The month of October is regarded as the Breast Cancer Awareness Month worldwide.

"The initiative, being organised as part of Pinktober, the global Breast Cancer Awareness Month, aims to highlight the importance of early detection, regular screening and timely treatment while encouraging greater awareness of the disease across the country," the PCB stated through a press release.

"Special Pink Ribbon activities at Gaddafi Stadium will commence two hours before the start of the match, providing an opportunity to engage spectators and reinforce the importance of awareness, early diagnosis and support for those affected by the disease."

Notably, Pakistan has the highest rate of breast cancer in Asia, with nearly 90,000 cases being registered each year and close to 40,000 deaths reported annually.

This isn't the first time the Men in Green have swapped their usual jerseys for a pink kit, as they did last year for the cause during a T20I against South Africa last year at Rawalpindi.

Pakistan eye better blueprint for 2027 WC ahead of Tri-Series

Pakistan will kick off their campaign against Sri Lanka this Sunday in Rawalpindi, before facing England at the same venue on Tuesday.

Looked at as the ground to prepare for the next ODI World Cup, the Men in Green still have a lot of ground to cover in the 50-over format. Under Shaheen Afridi's captaincy, Pakistan have just played two full-fledged series, winning one against Australia but losing to Bangladesh.

Meanwhile, the Men in Green have had one of the worst win/loss ratios among top-flight teams since the end of the 2025 Champions Trophy, with just nine wins from 18 matches in the period.

However, under Shaheen Afridi and Mike Hesson, Pakistan will look to rejig things and draw a better blueprint, keeping the 2027 ODI World Cup in mind.
