Kolkata Knight Riders will eye their first win of IPL 2026 when they lock horns against Lucknow Super Giants at the Eden Gardens on Thursday, April 9. The three-time winners have got off to their worst-ever start with just 1 point in three matches.
LSG, on the other hand, have had a mixed start to the tournament. The Rishabh Pant-led side have 2 points in two matches. It will be an interesting fixture as both teams are hungry for a win.
KKR vs LSG Preview
For KKR, they have received a massive boost as Cameron Green has been cleared to bowl. The all-rounder was barred from bowling for the start of IPL 2026. However, Ajinkya Rahane has been given the license to use Green as a bowler.
They face a challenge in the form of Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy’s update. Narine is expected to return to the playing XI after missing the last match due to injury. However, there is no update on Varun. KKR are expected to make a few changes to their playing XI, and this article will shed light on KKR’s strongest XI against LSG.
KKR Likely Playing XI vs LSG- Match 15
Openers and Top Order (Ajinkya Rahane, Finn Allen, Cameron Green)
There are questions over Finn Allen's place and whether the right-handed batter should be replaced by Tim Seifert at the top. In 3 matches, Allen has scored just 71 runs, averaging 23.67.
However, the Knight Riders won't replace Allen with the top as he has been contributing impactful runs. He has a strike-rate of 229.03. Further, Ajinkya Rahane will open the innings. Cameron Green has been facing the scrutiny as well. The Knight Riders have recieved a huge boost as Green will be available to bowl against LSG.
Green might have been forced out of the team for scoring just 24 runs in three innings but his place is now safe as he is allowed to bowl.
Middle Order and All Rounders (Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Rinku Singh, Ramandeep Singh, Rahul Tripathi)
In the middle-order, Angkrish Raghuvanshi will retain his place and has been KKR's best player this season. The right-handed batter has scored 110 runs in three innings, which includes two fifty-plus scores.

Rinku Singh is also having a great IPL with the bat as he has two thirty-plus scores. However, eyes are on Ramandeep Singh, who is flopping games after games and yet maintains a place in the team. Nonetheless, KKR are expected to go for an extra batter and Rahul Tripathi is expected to earn his maiden IPL game.
Bowlers (Anukul Roy, Sunil Narine, Vaibhav Arora, Kartik Tyagi)
In the bowling department, Sunil Narine will return to the team. The latest update is that he had abdominal pain and now has recovered from his illness. Narine has also joined the practice session and will play tomorrow's match.
There is no update on Varun Chakaravarthy's injury and since he has been going through a rough patch, the India star is most likely to miss the upcoming match. Anukul Roy will play in his place.
Vaibhav Arora and Kartik Tyagi will be the two seamers and Blessing Muzarabani will come in as an impact sub if KKR opt to bat first or are asked to bat.
