BAN vs NZ 2nd ODI predictions [Source: AFP]
Bangladesh will host New Zealand in the second ODI of the series at the Sher-E-Bangla Stadium, Mirpur, on April 20 at 10:30 AM (IST) after going 0-1 down in the series at the same venue.
Both teams were coming into the series in high spirits, after Bangladesh defeated Pakistan in a three-ODI series, similar to New Zealand's last series win against India in January.
Batting first in the series opener, New Zealand posted 247/8 in the first innings, courtesy of fifties from Henry Nicholls and Dean Foxcroft. They went on to comfortably defend this score by 26 runs after a complete bowling performance, led by Blair Tickner's 4/40.
For the hosts, Taskin Ahmed, Shoriful Islam and Rishad Hossain picked two wickets each, followed by fifties from Saif Hassan and Towhid Hridoy. A couple of cameos took them to 221, which wasn't enough as they were bowled out in 48.3 overs. As they look to square the series on Monday, we explore what to expect from the contest below.

Will Young vs Rishad Hossain
Will Young is among the senior players of the team, who got a good start in the first match before Rishad Hossain got rid of him. He has faced leg-spinners in 17 ODIs before and has scored 186 runs in 203 balls, but also gotten out on 8 occasions, which makes it an intriguing battle to watch out for.
Tanzid Hasan vs Will O’Rourke
Tanzid Hasan is Bangladesh’s best ODI batter this year with 177 runs at an average of 59 in four innings and will again be crucial for Bangladesh in getting a good start in the match, as they look to level the series. Will O’Rourke, who will operate with the new ball, is looking to impress once again after time away with an injury and can get early wickets.
How the duo fares against each other will be important, especially from Bangladesh’s point of view.
Tom Latham vs Mehidy Hasan Miraz
As the most experienced batter of the batting line-up, Tom Latham also has a great record against Bangladesh, averaging over 53. He will be crucial for the Kiwis in the middle order, but as a left-hand batter is susceptible to off-spin, where Mehidy Hasan Miraz will come into play.
In 78 innings against off-break bowling, he has scored 868 runs at a strike rate of 81.40 and an average of 37.70, but has gotten out 23 times. The battle of captains will be one to watch out for.

New Zealand looked like a superior team across departments in the first ODI, but also has a lot of inexperienced players in the lineup, contrary to the full-strength Bangladesh outfit.
