Rohit Sharma looked in good nick during a Mumbai Indians training session a day prior to his team’s all-important IPL 2026 match against the Gujarat Titans. The legendary opening batter has already missed one match for the Mumbai Indians, and the cricketer is currently in race against time to attain full recovery for upcoming games.
It is worth noting that Rohit Sharma suffered a hamstring injury earlier this month during a Mumbai Indians home IPL 2026 fixture against defending champions RCB on April 12. As per latest reports, the soon-to-be 39-year-old might face the Titans on Monday, April 20 at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. However, the report also indicates that the cricketer is still subject to fitness and the team management will be making a crucial call before the game.
Rohit Sharma subject to clearance from management before Titans clash
Rohit Sharma, amid his injury concerns this IPL 2026 season, attended the Mumbai Indians training session in Ahmedabad on Sunday, April 19. Notably, the former Indian captain was one of the earliest members to attend the session, and looked in fine nick as Mumbai Indians prepare to face hosts Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium on April 20.

As reported by Vijay Tagore, even though Sharma batted for a while, there is still no clarity on his recovery update. Moreover, the report also indicates that the cricketer is still subject to fitness clearance, and the Mumbai Indians team management will be making the all-important Rohit Sharma call just before the match.
Hardik Pandya to miss few games, Will Jacks still MIA
Earlier this month, Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya had stated that he could miss a couple of games for his franchise this IPL 2026 season. The seasoned Indian all-rounder has already missed his team’s second match of the tournament, against the Delhi Capitals back on April 4 in Delhi owing to his fitness concerns. Pandya’s absence prompted fellow senior pro Suryakumar Yadav to take up captaincy on an interim basis.
Will Jacks, on the other hand, is yet to link up with the Mumbai Indians squad this IPL 2026 season. As of now, it remains to be seen when the England-based batting all-rounder will be joining the franchise for the remainder of the tournament.
Problems aplenty for Mumbai Indians
Apart from getting plagued with injury and availability concerns, the Mumbai Indians franchise is also placed at the bottom of the IPL 2026 points table. Inching closer to the halfway stage of the tournament, the Hardik Pandya-led side slipped to the bottom following KKR’s comprehensive win over Rajasthan Royals in Kolkata on April 19.
While Mumbai Indians started off IPL 2026 with a remarkable heist over KKR, the team has since lost four matches in a row. With just two points from five games, the franchise will now face Gujarat Titans in match 30 on April 20 at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium in a must-win outing.
