The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has unveiled the entire schedule of the upcoming 2026 Women’s Asia Cup. Just a few days ago, ACC President and PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi confirmed that the entire tournament will be hosted by the Dubai International Stadium in Dubai, UAE.

Compatible to Naqvi’s claims, Dubai will be hosting the eight-team competition, albeit between August 28 and September 13.

As per the Women’s Asia Cup 2026 schedule, all 15 matches will be played under lights at the iconic Dubai International Stadium in Dubai. The tournament will be organized between August 28 and September 13.

As many as eight teams are participating in the 15-day competition, and they are divided into two teams of four groups each. Arch-rivals India and Pakistan Women's cricket teams are placed in the same group, and their blockbuster match will be played on September 5. Here is a look at both groups in details:

Group A: India Women, Pakistan Women, Thailand Women, Hong Kong Women (China)

Group B: Sri Lanka Women, Bangladesh Women, UAE Women, Indonesia Women

What is the format of Women’s Asia Cup 2026

The entire Women’s 2026 Asia Cup will be played in a T20I format, thus making it the sixth consecutive 20-overs Asia Cup event since the 2012 edition of the tournament. The upcoming event will also mark the first-ever Women’s Asia Cup to be hosted by the UAE. 

However, the West Asian country has previously hosted multiple Men’s Asia Cup editions, including the 2025 event last year.

With eight nations taking part in the 2026 Women’s Asia Cup, teams from each group will be taking on other members of their groups once in a round-robin opening round. As per the format, the top two teams from each group will make it to the semi-finals, and the winners of the same will reach the final on September 13.

History of Asia Cup: Who won the previous Women’s Asia Cup?

The upcoming 2026 Women’s Asia Cup is the tenth edition of the premier continental Asian Cricket Council (ACC) event. 

Sri Lanka, under the leadership of legendary all-rounder Chamari Athapaththu, won the previous Women’s Asia Cup back in 2024 at home. At the time, the hosts upstaged a strong Indian side in a lop-sided finale in Dambulla to lift their first-ever Asia Cup title.

Fittingly, the Sri Lanka Women’s team will start out the 2026 edition as defending champions. 

It is worth noting that of the nine Women’s Asia Cup editions played out so far, Team India has lifted the title a staggering seven times, including each of the four ODI editions between 2004 and 2008. 

Moreover, the ‘Women in Blue’ has reached the final on all nine occasions, losing only the 2018 and 2024 editions to Bangladesh Women and Sri Lanka Women respectively.
