Yash Thakur got his revenge from Vaibhav Sooryavanshi [Source: BCCI Domestic]
Yash Thakur and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi continued their battle in the ongoing Duleep Trophy 2026-27 encounter between Central Zone and East Zone. This match is being played at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) Ground 1 in Bengaluru.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi gave an excellent start to East Zone after being asked to chase 159 runs in the first semi-final of the Duleep Trophy tournament. Sooryavanshi had already done well in the first innings with the bat. He had a very good duel in the first innings with Yash Thakur, and the rivalry continued in the second innings as well.
Yash Thakur had the last laugh despite getting hammered by Vaibhav Sooryavanshi
Sooryavanshi gave a flying start to East Zone during their chase of 159 runs. He hammered 3 fours and 2 sixes during his stay in the middle, scoring 40 in 43 balls. He took a particular liking for Yash Thakur in the 14th over of the innings.
Sooryavanshi had hammered three fours and one six in the over and had the upper hand against Thakur. His first boundary was a slog over mid-wicket, but the six was a pure display of talent that Sooryavanshi possesses. He played a glorious shot off his back foot to hammer Thakur for a straight six over the long-off.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi continued his onslaught by hitting two more fours but also fell to Thakur in the same over.

He tried to hit another six over the leg side, and the ball went high in the air as he miscued the lofted shot. The fielder, captain of Central Zone, Rajat Patidar, covered quite some ground in order to take a well-judged catch. He had to dive to make sure he completed the catch.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Yash Thakur’s rivalry in the first innings
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Yash Thakur had a similar tussle in the first innings as well. Sooryavanshi hammered 92 runs in 81 balls for East Zone in the first innings with the help of 7 fours and 7 sixes, becoming the youngest player to score a fifty in the Duleep Trophy.

Sooryavanshi was troubled by Yash Thakur, who bowled brilliantly for Central Zone. Thakur peppered Sooryavanshi with short balls, where the teenager tried to hit big shots and dominate. He was also troubled outside the off-stump as well, as Thakur got the ball to seam and move off the pitch.
East Zone on the cusp of making it into the Duleep Trophy 2026 final
After East Zone captain Ishan Kishan won the toss, Central Zone was assigned to bat first. Central Zone scored 266 in their opening innings thanks to 60 from Rinku Singh, 46 from Aryan Juyal, and 27 from Yash Rathod and Harsh Dubey.
With Vaibhav Sooryavanshi scoring 92 and Abhimanyu Easwaran scoring 69, East Zone also responded with 266 runs. In order to force East Zone to fight hard for the goal, Central Zone needed to produce a sizable score in order to turn the game into a match.
But in the second innings, they were destroyed for 158 runs by Mukesh Kumar’s 4/44 and Mohammad Shami’s 3/56. Harsh Dubey scored 24 runs, while Aman Mokhade scored 41.
