On Friday, March 27, Karachi Kings locked horns against Quetta Gladiators in PSL 2026 match 2 at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. The first innings had great match-ups lined up, but the one that was most awaited was between Usman Tariq and Azam Khan.
The David Warner-led side, batting first, put 181 runs on the board. Moeen Ali was the star with the bat as the former England all-rounder scored an unbeaten 48 (29). Fans had hopes on Azam Khan, but the right-handed batter failed to convert a promising start.
Azam Khan Throws The First Punch Against Usman Tariq
When Azam Khan walked to bat, Karachi were reduced to 100/4. The Gladiators’ captain quickly brought Usman Tariq into the attack to get rid of Khan. The plan didn’t go as planned because the 27-year-old did the unthinkable.
On the last ball of Tariq’s first over, Azam Khan hit him for a six. The internet went into a frenzy because Tariq has earned the reputation of a bowler who doesn’t get hit for maximums because of his unorthodox style.

The fans heaped massive praise on Azam Khan, and there were chatters that the right-handed batter is set for a big score. However, the scenario quickly turned around with the Pakistani spinner bouncing back strongly.
Usman Tariq Has The Last Laugh Against Azam Khan
Usman Tariq returned for his 2nd over in the 14th over of the game. On the first ball of the over, there was a loud appeal for LBW, but the umpire was unmoved. On the very next delivery, Tariq rattled Khan’s furniture and cleaned him up.
Khan was in shock and returned to the pavilion after scoring a run-a-ball 14. Meanwhile, Tariq couldn’t control his laugh and had fun after the dismissal, which also became a talking point for the fans on the internet. Also, Usman Tariq eventually registered the figures of 1/29 in his four overs.
Azam Khan Trolled For His Fitness
Azam Khan made his PSL debut in 2018. Back then, fans mocked Azam for being overweight, which also affected his performance. The 27-year-old eventually played for Pakistan, but his fitness issues quickly saw him drop out of scheme of things.
It has been 2 years since Azam last played for Pakistan. However, the right-handed batter recently underwent transformation and shed a lot of kilos. Fans were impressed by the efforts and were sure of a revamped version.
Much to everyone's surprise, when Azam walked to bat against Quetta Gladiators, the 27-year-old looked like he regained the lost kilos. Azam returned to his past version, which also affected his performance, such as running between the wicket.
The fans quickly turned to social media platforms to troll Khan for his fitness. Talking about the ongoing match, at the time of writing this article, Quetta are on course of a comfortable win. They have put 56/0 after 5 overs while chasing a target of 182 runs.
