High-pressure contests often have a way of testing even the calmest of personalities. That was evident during CSK’s innings against Punjab Kings in match number seven of the IPL 2026 season, played out at the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai.
At one stage of the high-scoring CSK innings, Punjab Kings skipper Shreyas Iyer was seen losing his cool and unleashing a fiery outburst at a teammate. The incident occurred during the slog overs when hard-hitting middle-order batter Sarfaraz Khan took the Punjab Kings attack head-on as he tore into the bowling with audacious stroke-play.
Shreyas Iyer yells at bowler Vijaykumar Vyshak, fielder
Punjab Kings skipper Shreyas Iyer brought fast bowler Vijaykumar Vyshak back into the attack to bowl the 17th over of the CSK innings. Starting off his final over with figures of 1-26 from his three previous overs, the speedster got belted for a scorching boundary towards square of short third by a well-set Sarfaraz Khan.

Attempting the fuller line outside off to limit the scoring arc, Vyshak stuck to the plan, but Sarfaraz managed to carve it away with control. The outcome even left Shreyas Iyer visibly annoyed as he turned around and animatedly yelled at his bowler and at his fielder inside the circle.
Vijaykumar Vyshak eventually got his man later in the over after getting hit for two more boundaries in succession. In a bid to muscle the ball down the ground, Sarfaraz Khan got caught out by Nehal Wadhera at mid-on as he walked back to the sheds for an enterprising 12-ball 32.
Shreyas Iyer’s attacking 50 takes Punjab Kings home
Chasing 210, Punjab Kings opener Priyansh Arya bludgeoned 39 off just 11 balls to get his team off to a flier. Prabhsimran Singh also cracked 43 from 34, while in-form Cooper Connolly at number three listed a swift 22-ball 36.
Captain Shreyas Iyer carried Punjab Kings’ momentum in the middle overs by slapping 50 runs from 29 balls with four boundaries and three huge sixes. Late cameos from Shashank Singh and Marcus Stoinis eventually blazed the visitors past CSK’s 209-run total with eight balls and five wickets to spare.
The outcome helped Punjab Kings register its second win of the IPL 2026 season, as they jumped to the top of the 10-team points table.
