Playing his first match of the PSL 2026 season, as well as the first match of his PSL career overall, young Muhammad Ismail was tasked to open the bowling for the Multan Sultans in match 11 of the tournament against the Lahore Qalandars.

The speedster started off with five wides, before his length delivery flew over the first slip for a boundary by Mohammad Naeem. Ismail sent down another wide towards the boundary in a near replica of the first ball, as the Qalandars raced to 14-0 after just one legal delivery.

While the duo saw off Peter Siddle for just six runs, the two cricketers pounded Mohammad Wasim, Mohammad Nawaz as well as Faisal Akram in their opening overs with 16, 19 and 19 runs respectively.

After leaking 26 runs off his first over, Muhammad Ismail eventually trapped Parvez Hossain Emon for 45 from just 19 deliveries in the sixth over of the match.

All in all, the Lahore Qalandars still raced to 123-1 after the first seven overs, i.e., around the halfway stage of the innings.

Match faces delayed start due to rains

The Lahore Qalandars vs Multan Sultans match faced a delayed start at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore owing to rains at the venue. With several fans speculating to get another washout this PSL 2026 season, officials eventually commenced the proceedings and reduced the match to a 13-overs-a-side game.

Multan Sultans, under the leadership of Ashton Turner, is yet to lose a single game this season. The Lahore Qalandars, on the other hand, is playing without senior opener Fakhar Zaman as he is currently serving his two-match ban owing to “ball-tampering”.
