Punjab Kings IPL 2026 Auction Review
The Punjab Kings management barely lifted their paddle at the IPL 2026 auction in December last year. Fresh from a runners-up finish in IPL 2025, the franchise had retained as many as 21 cricketers, including captain Shreyas Iyer.
Prabhsimran Singh, Arshdeep Singh, Nehal Wadhera, Priyansh Arya, Yuzvendra Chahal and Harpreet Brar were among the biggest Indian stars retained by the franchise. Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis, South Africa’s Marco Jansen, Afghanistan’s Azmatullah Omarzai and fast bowlers Xavier Bartlett and Lockie Ferguson are among overseas players with international experience set to reprise their roles for the Punjab-based team.
While Punjab Kings did not engage in any trade, the franchise acquired four cricketers on the day of the IPL 2026 auction in December. Among all four players, Australian pacer Ben Dwarshuis commanded the highest price, as he was snapped for a staggering sum of Rs. 4.40 crores. His national teammate and all-rounder Cooper Connolly also fetched a Rs. 3 crore deal with the franchise.
Uncapped Indian stars Pravin Dubey and Vishal Nishad both earned Rs. 30 lakh each on the basis of their success in domestic and league cricket. While Dubey is a wily leg-spinner who plays for Karnataka in domestic cricket, Nishad rose his way into the IPL 2026 roaster through his wicket-taking spree for Gorakhpur Lions in UP T20 League.
