The stage is set for a riveting IPL 2026 battle as the Gujarat Titans will collide with the Punjab Kings at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad. The Titans thrashed RCB in their last fixture at home, and the team will be oozing with confidence after that resounding win.

The Shubman Gill-led side lost to RCB away from home, then went on a two-match winning streak, and the franchise has a great shot at reaching the IPL playoffs. While their top three in the batting department looks strong, the middle-order still looks weak, and that needs to be resolved.

Ahead of the crucial IPL 2026 match between GT and PBKS, we take a look at GT's strongest playing XI, with key changes expected.

Openers and top order: Shubman Gill(c), Sai Sudharsan, Jos Buttler(w)

GT has one of the most settled top three in the IPL 2026. In Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan, and Jos Buttler, the franchise has reliable batters. Interestingly, the trio is yet to bring out their best version in the IPL 2026, and they’ll be eager to do that against the lacklustre PBKS attack.

While Sudharsan failed against RCB in the last match, Gill looked in ominous touch, and Buttler took the game away from RCB.

On a flat Narendra Modi Stadium surface, the GT trio will once again hold the key as the franchise aims to qualify for the playoffs.

Middle order and all-rounders: Washington Sundar, Jason Holder, Shahrukh Khan

This is where GT mostly struggles in the IPL. The team has a weak middle-order, and they were exposed against RCB in the last game when the top order collapsed after a strong start.

Washington Sundar has played at number 4, and he has blown hot and cold with question marks over his strike rate. The same is the case with Shahrukh Khan, who is yet to justify his price tag for the Titans.

The only shining light has been Jason Holder, who has performed well with the bat and has played the finishers’ role with perfection for the Gujarat side. Rahul Tewatia will most likely come in as an impact player, if the franchise bats second.

Bowlers: Arshad Khan, Rashid Khan, Kagiso Rabada, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna

There is no doubt that the Titans have the best bowling unit in the IPL 2026. The side has variety, both in pace and spin department, and it was evident against RCB in the last match, when the side got bundled out cheaply.

In Mohammed Siraj, and Kagiso Rabada, the former IPL winners have a potent new ball weapon, and Arshad Khan can come in after the 6-over mark to dismiss the batters. The only change that GT could make is to bring in Prasidh Krishna in place of Manav Suthar.

Suthar was unused against RCB in the last game, and the surface at the Narendra Modi Stadium offers assistance to the pacers, and hence, the franchise could be tempted to include an additional fast-bowler in place of a spinner.
