KL Rahul with Devdutt Padikkal on Day 4 of Galle Test | PC- Screengrab
Team India is currently at loggerheads against Sri Lanka at Galle in the first Test of the two-match series. With the visitors batting again, KL Rahul shared a wholesome moment with Devdutt Padikkal on the morning of Day 4.
Although the visitors have a massive first-innings lead, the game is still hanging by a thread due to rain playing a major role throughout the five days.
KL Rahul turns into a kid in front of Padikkal after surviving on DRS
Against Prabath Jayasuriya, KL Rahul was adjudged LBW in the 11th over, in front of the stumps. On his partner Devdutt Padikkal’s suggestion, he sent the decision upstairs for review.
Surprisingly to many, the fuller-length ball, despite pitching just outside off and with the impact in line, went missing on replays. Relieved after surviving a close shave, Rahul couldn’t hide his emotions; he hugged his partner and later blew a kiss for DDP.

KL Rahul, Devdutt Padikkal's Karnataka connection helping India
Coming from Karnataka, KL Rahul and Devdutt Padikkal have been sharing the dressing room since 2018, when the latter first came into the Ranji Trophy squad. Over the years, the two have shown great camaraderie and mutual respect, as evidenced by the way the two batters communicate during their 162-run stand in the first innings.
As Padikkal scored his maiden Test ton earlier in the match, he was partnered brilliantly by the Indian vice-captain, who missed out on his century by a whisker.
However, the southpaw, playing in place of an injured Sai Sudharsan, made it count by smashing 167 and helping India post 462 runs on the board.
