In this season of Test cricket, top teams across the globe are displaying top-drawer games to the fans of the longest format. India are playing in Sri Lanka, while Australia and Bangladesh are also at loggerheads, whereas Pakistan will soon kickstart the English summer.

In this busy time, the cricketer-turned-pundit Cheteshwar Pujara blind ranked the top six Test batters.

As he hand-positioned the current Test batters, KL Rahul failed to find a place in Pujara's list. Moreover, two Indians were present in the blind ranking list. Notably, Rahul is regarded as one of the most technically blessed batters in the Indian batting order, especially in Test cricket.

Cheteshwar Pujara's blind ranking for top six Test batters

In a video posted by Cricinfo, Cheteshwar Pujara selected the top six Test batters currently going around in international cricket. Notably, he picked just two Indian batters in the top six, while there was one apiece from England, South Africa, New Zealand and Bangladesh.

According to the former Indian Test batter, Shubman Gill sits second, and Yashasvi Jaiswal is ranked fifth on the list. Meanwhile, Joe Root is the numero-uno in Pujara's blind ranking.

South African Test captain Temba Bavuma is third, followed by New Zealand's Daryl Mitchell. Surprisingly, Bangladesh's hero from the Darwin Test, Tanzid Hasan, was placed sixth on the list.

No place for KL Rahul, Steve Smith, Babar Azam in Pujara's list

It is worth mentioning that Indian maestro opener KL Rahul and the Australian great Steve Smith were not present on Cheteshwar Pujara’s blind ranking list. Moreover, there was no place for Babar Azam and Dinesh Chandimal either.

Notably, among the active Test batters, no one has more runs than Smith (10878 runs), apart from Joe Root. Meanwhile, KL Rahul has racked up 4153 runs in the longest format, while Babar has 4674 and Chandimal has hit 6534 Test runs.

That said, Pujara was given the six Test batters, out of which he had to rank one to six.

Is Cheteshwar Pujara's blind ranking justifiable?

Cheteshwar Pujara picked Joe Root in first position in his blind ranking, which is, without any doubt, rightly placed, given he has the most runs in the Test format compared to his contemporaries

Shubman Gill is next on Pujara's list, but he has fewer runs than Temba Bavuma, who was third on the list.

Meanwhile, Yashasvi Jaiswal, with 2567 Test runs, was placed beneath Daryl Mitchell (2411 runs). Lastly, Tanzid Hasan was rightly placed in the last spot as he has played just two matches.

That said, Pujara stated at the end of the video that he would make a couple of changes to his blind ranking, but he was satisfied with the list.
