The ongoing series-deciding second Test between India and Sri Lanka has been marred with much controversies. With the ICC punishing three different players for their questionable acts on the field, Indian fast bowler Mohammed Siraj also had a rather silent run-in with Sri Lanka opener Kamil Mishara on Day 3.
On Day 4 of the match, it now appears that Ravindra Jadeja and Siraj were involved in a brief on-field exchange, at a time when the Sri Lankans were chasing 213 runs just to make the visitors bat again.
Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Siraj argue over missed opportunity
The incident occurred during the 31st over of the second Sri Lanka innings on Day 4 on Wednesday, August 26. With Ravindra Jadeja bowling, Sri Lanka’s number three Pasindu Sooriyabandara attempted a slog sweep towards the deep forward region.
However, the ball fell well inside the ropes, but still away from the grasp of Indian fielder Mohammed Siraj.

Visibly frustrated over the missed opportunity, Jadeja urged Siraj to stay back while the fast bowler smilingly responded that he had been instructed to field in his area.
Fortunately for Indian fans and the Indian cricket team, the argument felt nothing more than a brief moment of frustration between the two teammates, with the exchange ending almost as quickly as it began.
Mohammed Siraj provokes Kamil Mishara
Interestingly, this was not the first instance of Mohammed Siraj being involved in an on-field altercation during the ongoing Test. On Day 3, the speedster also exchanged words with Sri Lanka opening batter Kamil Mishara.
When Mishara was aiming to consolidate the Sri Lanka innings alongside Pasindu Sooriyabandara in the ninth over, Siraj bowled a good-length delivery that moved away from the batter after pitching around the off stump.
As it Mishara’s second consecutive leave of the over, the Indian fast bowler “provoked” the batter to make some contact with the ball rather than letting it go to the wicketkeeper.
Siraj suffers horrific ribcage injury on Day 4
Earlier on Day 4, Mohammed Siraj also suffered a horrific ribcage injury during the 11th over of the second Sri Lankan innings as bowled by Manav Suthar.
The incident occurred after Siraj landed heavily on the ground after trying to grab a catch off Pasindu Sooriyabandara while stretching forward from the deep square leg region. Not only did the cricketer failed to complete the catch, he was also spotted in visible pain before going off the field.
Fortunately for Team India, the speedster returned to the field a while later during the 17th over of the innings.
Ravindra Jadeja fumes at Prasidh Krishna
Apart from arguing with Mohammed Siraj, Ravindra Jadeja also fumed at another Indian fast bowler in the match in the form of Prasidh Krishna.
In the 13th over, Krishna committed a fielding blunder while standing at point. The speedster was later subjected to some yelling from Jadeja, as well as displeased gesture from head coach Gautam Gambhir.
All in all, the series-deciding Test has provided no shortage of heated moments for the Indian team, with Ravindra Jadeja and Siraj both finding themselves at the centre of a few tense exchanges on the field.
