Pakistan cricket matches are always special with their entertainment quotient, and as the national men’s cricket team is currently testing their might against England’s warm-up squad, the National Champions Cup 2026 is also gathering the same heat and excitement.

Notably, in a recently concluded match of the tournament between Pakistan Whites and Pakistan Blues, Hasan Ali got engaged in a heated celebratory mock-off with Shahnawaz Dahani. Both players from opposing teams faced off in a hilarious banter that resulted in a hilarious moment for spectators and fans to celebrate.

Hasan Ali Mocks Pakistan Whites’ Shahnawaz Dahani First

In the match, Pakistan Whites came in to bat first and put up a total of 245 runs on the board. However, before the Whites were bundled, Dahani, a talented pacer of the Pakistan cricket team, had to come out at the crease and face pace veteran Hasan Ali.

During the second ball of the 49th over, as Dahani took guard with his bat, with Whites being on at 242/8, Ali delivered a sensational ball to bamboozle the batter. An inside cutter pitched on the good length swirled straight towards the off stump, and in an attempt to hit big, Dahani missed the ball as the stump went cartwheeling behind.

As soon as the wicket was taken, Ali started running towards Shahnawaz Dahani and mouthed some words. Soon after he gave a fierce look to the dismissed batter, he then mocked him with an aggressive yet hilarious animated gesture as Dahani silently walked back towards the pavilion.

Dahani Takes Revenge On Hasan Ali

What started as a friendly mocking gesture, though, ended in a chaotic finish as Dahani exacted his revenge on the Pakistan veteran.

Ali came in to bat for the Blues at No. 9 and almost single-handedly tried to anchor the match and salvage the team’s chase with his five boundaries. However, things got spicy when Shahnawaz Dahani was given the responsibility to defend the target in the last over.

As Pakistan Blues required 15 runs from the last over, Dahani was bashed for two consecutive boundaries by Ali, with the Blues standing at 239/9. The hammering took Dahani aback, but he bounced back with a dot ball and then pitched a full-toss delivery that had Hasan.

Dahani’s fourth delivery of the over was destined for a six; however, Hasan, in an attempt to finish it big, swung his bat without reading the pace of the ball properly. As he mistimed it, the ball got the top edge of his bat, and the wicketkeeper safely palmed the catch to seal victory for Pakistan Whites.

As soon as Ali was dismissed, Dahani clicked off the celebration and exactly imitated and mocked Hasan Ali with the same gesture he did during Dahani’s wicket. However, instead of running towards Ali, Dahani shared his aggressive celebration by running towards the crowd at full pace.

Are Shahnawaz Dahani and Hasan Ali On-Field Enemies?

Incidentally, Dahani and Ali never shared a dressing room in the domestic or franchise cricket space of Pakistan. However, they played together in just one international match in their respective careers, that is against the West Indies in June 2022.

Ali scalped 2 wickets in that match, while Dahani picked one. As far as relations are concerned, the two share banter on the field and are known to be friendly off the ground.

Besides keeping professional relations as cricketers, the on-field heat is part and parcel of playing the sport, and it is very much likely that both have mutual respect for each other. The good relationship between the two was also evident as later, after mocking Dahani, Hasan Ali smiled back at him, and the contest ended on a good note without much escalation from Ali’s side.

Overall, the mock celebration face-off was just a celebration that the Pakistan cricketers celebrated between themselves, not a foul play of gestures as it becomes otherwise between arch rivals.
