As Bangladesh continue to dominate Australia at Darwin, opener Tanzid Hasan has taken over the momentum from where Hasan Mahmud left with the ball. As a result, the stylish southpaw has smacked his maiden Test century in AUS vs BAN 1st Test.
The visitors were able to restrict the mighty Aussies for a mere first-innings score of 198 runs, thanks to Mahmud's majestic six-wicket haul.
The Bangladesh batters didn't let the bowling attack's efforts go in vain, as they showed true character and application in the ongoing innings. Tanzid first had a massive stand with Mominul Haque, before continuing the good work with his skipper, Najmul Hossain Shanto.
Tanzid Hasan scripts history with maiden Test century in Australia
Tanzid Hasan brought the Darwin crowd to its feet by scoring a century for the saviour, becoming the first Bangladesh batter to score a Test ton in his first outing in Australia.
The opener ticked by his milestone in the 64th over of the Bangladesh innings, driving Nathan Lyon for a single down the ground.
During his fine knock, Tanzid batted with comprehensive control, with a shot control percentage of 65%. He played both pace and spin equally well during his measured innings, with the highlight of the knock being his battle against Mitchell Starc, whom the southpaw neutralised.

That said, the 25-year-old batter is the only Bangladesh batter, since Shahriar Nafees, to score a Test hundred against Australia. The former batter achieved the feat back in 2006 at Fatullah, but in a losing cause.
However, Tanzid’s blitz was cut short by Lyon soon after he ticked past the milestone, as the batter holed out in the deep.
Tanzid Hasan leads Bangladesh’s strong fightback against Australia
For Bangladesh, the visiting batters have shown tremendous resilience against the mighty Australians. As they have lost just three wickets in the second innings, they have had two massive partnerships in the middle.
Tanzid Hasan and Monimul Haque laid the foundation with a 102-run stand for the second wicket, with the latter missing out on his well-deserved half-century by one run. However, Tanzid added another marvellous stand, a 93-run partnership with Najmul Hossain Shanto.
Thanks to these impressive efforts, Bangladesh have already taken a lead while still having seven wickets in hand. If the remaining batters can maintain the momentum, the visitors could put Australia under serious pressure.
