In an awkward moment for the PCB chairman, Mohsin Naqvi, a question posed by a Pakistani journalist at a pre-PSL auction press conference between India and Pakistan turned into a viral video.

What was meant to praise the PCB chief ended up drawing laughter from the person seated beside him. Within minutes, the video spread across social media, with fans focusing more on the reaction than the actual statement.

PSL owner subtly mocks Mohsin Naqvi

During the media interaction, a journalist claimed that the PCB had brought the ICC “to its knees” during recent negotiations. The remark appeared to credit Mohsin Naqvi for standing firm in the reported standoff involving scheduling and participation issues.

However, the spotlight shifted instantly. The man seated next to Naqvi struggled to control his laughter. Cameras caught him trying to hold it in, but his reaction was obvious.

Mohsin Naqvi, meanwhile, looked down and avoided eye contact for a few seconds. Interestingly, the person seen laughing was later identified as Ahsan Tahir, owner of the PSL franchise Multan Sultans and Group CEO of Walee Group.

Social media users were quick to share the clip. Many felt the reaction said more than words. The moment became a talking point, with memes and jokes flooding timelines.

Mohsin Naqvi said later that all the PCB was trying to do was see respect and fairness in the situation. He insisted there was no personal agenda involved.

What was the ICC-PCB standoff about?

The row erupted when Bangladesh protested playing matches in India, citing security and logistical concerns. The ICC denied requests for changes in the schedule, saying that agreements could not be changed so close to the tournament.

The PCB publicly backed Bangladesh and criticised the ICC’s rigid stance, calling it unfair. Tensions escalated when PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi hinted at stronger action.

In early February, Pakistan officially announced it would boycott the high-profile India vs Pakistan clash. The announcement caught everyone off guard, especially because it is the biggest commercial contest of the tournament.

The ICC responded firmly, warning of serious financial and legal consequences. Back-channel talks followed, involving the PCB, ICC and BCB. During these negotiations, it is said that Pakistan proposed demands, including bilateral cricket meetings, but these were denied.

Eventually, after intense negotiations and diplomatic involvement, Pakistan withdrew the boycott. The February 15 match in Colombo was restored, ending the immediate crisis.

India vs Pakistan to go ahead amid intense drama

All this unfolds as the cricketing world prepares for another India vs Pakistan showdown. On the field, India enter as strong favourites under Suryakumar Yadav’s leadership.

They have beaten Pakistan multiple times in recent tournaments, including the Asia Cup.

Pakistan, however, have started their T20 World Cup campaign well with two group-stage wins. Confidence is high within their squad.

But at the end of the day, every India-Pakistan clash is about nerves. The one to absorb the pressure will eventually emerge victorious.
