While the T20 World Cup 2026 is under full sway, the India Women’s team has also been battling a tough fight Down Under. After a thumping T20I series win, India now faces Australia in the 2nd match of the ODI series, where Harmanpreet Kaur, the skipper, found a terrible way to embarrass herself live on camera.
Mitchell Starc, Australia’s premier fast bowler who retired from T20Is, took up commentary duties for the series and couldn’t control his laugh as he watched Harmanpreet Kaur pull off a hilarious move during India’s innings.
Harmanpreet Kaur & Co.’s Performance So Far
Mitchell Starc is one of the guests for the Cricket 7 commentary panel for the 2nd ODI match between India Women and Australia Women at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart. The 1st ODI though, was won by the hosts, where Alyssa Healy & Co. chased a target of 215 with ease, with 6 wickets and over 11 overs remaining for the match.
Harmanpreet played a skipper's knock in the first ODI with her 84-ball 53 to anchor the innings after an early collapse. Though her T20I presence was not as impactful as in the ODI encounters, a misjudgment of a shot almost embarrassed her on live television, which also sparked laughter in the commentary box led by Mitchell Starc.

Starc Fails To Control Laugh After Harmanpreet's Action
On the fifth ball of the 39th over bowled by Megan Schutt, Harmanpreet Kaur took strike. Schutt bowled a leg-cutter into the wicket outside the off stump, and Harmanpreet was keen on playing a scoop shot.
As Kaur premeditated the shot and attempted to lap it behind, the ball ended up striking her helmet, knocking her down. This led to a comical moment on the field, and Harmanpreet herself laughed at the incident.
The camera then panned to the commentary box featuring Mitchell Starc, where the Aussie pacer burst out laughing and could not control his smile. He laughed for nearly a minute before picking up the mic to comment on the peculiar incident.

Nevertheless, Harmanpreet Kaur was checked by a physio who rushed in to conduct a concussion test after the blow. However, everything was fine and she was cleared to continue.
India Put Up Decent Total In Front Of Australia Women
As Harmanpreet carried on batting, India had earlier made a solid start with Pratika Rawal and Smriti Mandhana, who put on 78 runs to give the team momentum. However, the middle order struggled.
After Jemimah Rodrigues's dismissal in the 22nd over, wickets fell quickly, and Deepti Sharma was dismissed in the 25th over, leaving India reeling at 103 for four. Harmanpreet held one end with her 70-ball 54 and stitched crucial partnerships with Richa Ghosh, Kashvee Gautam, and Kranti Gaud to help India post 251 at the end of 50 overs.
India are now in a must-win situation in the second ODI, as they need to win the match to keep the series alive.
If Australia win this game, they will seal the three-match ODI series, with the final clash set to be played at Bellerive Oval on March 1. After that, the multi-format tour will conclude with the one-off Test scheduled for March 6 at the WACA Ground in Perth.
