Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan’s warm-up still the OG
Before Iftikhar Ahmed’s training antics went viral, Pakistan batting greats Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan had already produced a meme-worthy warm-up moment of their own.
Earlier this year, the two legendary batters were spotted stretching and warming up in tandem, albeit in a rather absurd manner, during a training session at a ground. The moment sparked hilarious reactions online, with fans flooding social media with numerous memes at the expense of the two cricketers.
Some fans even recreated the pose and the training routine, with Indian fast bowler Deepak Chahar joining the social media frenzy by sharing a viral clip of his own as a tribute to Babar and Rizwan.
Babar and Rizwan under-fire amid Pakistan’s dismal run
Training routines aside, Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan are both facing growing scrutiny from Pakistan fans amid the team’s recent struggles, especially in white-ball cricket. Babar recently toured Sri Lanka as part of the Pakistan squad for the 2026 T20 World Cup.
In four innings of the tournament, the senior pro managed to aggregate just 91 runs at a dismal average of 22.75 and with a below par strike rate of 112.34. He was subsequently dropped from the Pakistan team for the ODI tour of Bangladesh owing to an “injury”.
Mohammad Rizwan, meanwhile, toured Bangladesh but failed to notch up a single match-winning score throughout the series. Under the leadership of Shaheen Afridi, the ‘Men in Green’ lost the decider by 11 runs to concede a 1-2 win to the hosts.
As of now, it remains to be seen what the future holds for the two legendary Pakistan batters as the team prepares its roadmap for the 2027 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup.
