India started Day 4 on a high note as the Shubman Gill-led side enforced a follow-on. Sri Lanka were asked to bat again and lost an early wicket, but Pasindu and Kamil Mishara stitched a 50+ run stand for the 2nd wicket. Indian fielders were also to be blamed for the 2nd wicket stand, which left Gautam Gambhir and Ravindra Jadeja fuming.

India have been great in the field in the first two Tests, but the fielders looked like a pale shadow of their best versions on Day 4. There were dropped catches, a lack of effort, and the patience ran out when Prasidh Krishna failed to grab a difficult chance.

On the 5th ball of the 13th over, Ravindra Jadeja trapped Pasindu Sooriyabandara with a flighted delivery. The Sri Lanka batter ran out of patience and looked to whack the ball away. However, it led to a top-edge that went in Prasidh Krishna’s direction, who was standing at point.

It was a difficult opportunity, but Krishna was late to it and couldn’t grab the ball. Ravindra Jadeja was furious with the lack of effort and expressed his anger by hurling a few words. Meanwhile, the camera also panned on Gautam Gambhir, who was on the balcony and not impressed by Prasidh Krishna.

Gambhir visibly gestured his displeasure to the India seamer because India cannot let the match slip from this position.
