India have been a live wire on the field, and it has been a point of difference between the two teams. Yashasvi Jaiswal showed glimpses of the new attitude on Day 1 with his altercation, and now Sarfaraz Khan has caught everyone’s attention.
Sarfaraz Khan failed to find a place in the team but spent the entire Day 3 on the field as a substitute fielder. Rishabh Pant failed to take the field because of his shoulder injury, and the management asked Khan to replace him and field at short leg.
Sarfaraz Khan’s aggressive celebration takes the limelight
Shortly after coming in as a substitute fielder, Sarfaraz Khan made his presence felt and landed in hot water with aggressive celebrations. The incident occurred on the 5th over of the 37th over when Manav Suthar got rid of Dhananjaya de Silva.
Sarfaraz Khan, who was standing at short leg, was animated and celebrated right in front of Sri Lanka captain’s face. Things could have heated up, but de Silva chose not to respond and returned to the pavilion.
Eventually, the on-field umpire confronted Sarfaraz and had a small chat with him regarding the celebration. Khan laughed it off and looked like he promised the umpire to keep his antics in check.
Sarfaraz Khan Fears ICC Sanction
Sarfaraz now fears a similar ICC sanction as Yashasvi Jaiswal, who too caught ICC's eye after aggressive altercation with Asitha Fernando. The ICC found Yashasvi Jaiswal and Asitha Fernando guilty of breaching Code of Conducts and slapped them with heavy fines following their physical altercation.
Yashasvi Jaiswal has escaped a match ban and has been slapped with 25% of his match fees and one demerit point for inappropriate physical contact. The incident occurred when Asitha Fernando bowled a peach of a delivery and uprooted Jaiswal’s off-stump.

Yashasvi Jaiswal was upset and started his walk towards the pavilion when Asitha Fernando said something, which resulted in Jaiswal getting angry and returning to confront the right-arm seamer.
The matter lit up in no seconds and the two players gave a headbutt to each other. Hence, it is likely that Sarfaraz Khan is also likely to draw a punishment for celebrating too close to the batter and almost instigating a fight.
Mohammed Siraj Joins the Sledging Row
Not just Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sarfaraz Khan but Mohammed Siraj too joined the sledging race. The right-arm seamer. The incident occurred in the ninth over when Mishara was playing alongside Sooriyabandara.
After conceding three runs in his first two deliveries, Siraj bowled a good-length delivery that moved away from Kamil Mishara after pitching around the off stump. As Mishara left his second consecutive leave of the over, Siraj exchanged a few words with the batter, provoking him to make some contact with the ball rather than letting it go to the wicketkeeper.
Eventually, Prasidh Krishna reaped the fruit of Siraj's sledging and got rid of Kami Mishara.
