India is playing against New Zealand in the ongoing 4th T20I of the India tour of New Zealand 2026 on October 30, 2026, at Eden Park, Auckland.

Daryl Mitchell and Nathan Smith became the talk of the town with a sensational relay catch during the ongoing 4th T20I against India. The two players showed brilliant coordination to dismiss Naman Dhir during India’s innings.

Daryl Mitchell and Nathan Smith's Brilliant Relay Catch

The incident took place during the 12th over of India's innings. New Zealand pacer Jacob Duffy bowled a short length delivery outside off-stump in the second ball of the over.

Naman Dhir picked up the length early and played an aggressive pull shot towards the long-on boundary. The ball travelled high into the air, and Daryl Mitchell ran towards it to complete the catch.

However, Daryl Mitchell quickly realised that his momentum would take him beyond the boundary cushions. Showing excellent awareness, Daryl Mitchell threw the ball back into the playing area just before crossing the boundary.

The throw went slightly beyond Nathan Smith, who was running in from deep mid-wicket.

Nathan Smith showed great timing, adjusted his movement and dived forward to grab the ball cleanly before it touched the ground.

Naman Dhir had to walk back after scoring 28 runs off just 13 balls at a strike rate of 215.38.

Jacob Duffy picked up his third wicket of the innings, while India suffered another major setback at 121/7.
