Jacob Duffy, the New Zealand pacer, shared the IPL dressing room with the Indian and RCB legend, Virat Kohli, and ahead of the ODIs between India and New Zealand, the Kiwi pacer stated that it would be awesome to play against his IPL mate in the 5-match series.

The pacer mentioned that when he got a chance to share the dressing room with Kohli, he was awestruck by how “down to earth” the Indian legend was, despite reaching godlike status.

Duffy eager to play against RCB mate Virat Kohli

The India vs New Zealand ODI leg of the tour will begin on Wednesday, November 4, and both Kohli and Duffy have been picked in their respective sides.

Duffy, who won the IPL with RCB, bowled to Kohli in the nets, and the right-arm pacer is eager to go toe-to-toe with him in the upcoming riveting ODI matches.

"I got to see him [Virat Kohli] yesterday," Duffy said during a media interaction in Auckland on Sunday. "He was in the gym, obviously, so running into him there was cool, but he was awesome to me.

"Obviously, for such a religious figure, I guess you almost say, in India - he's obviously a megastar over there - for him to be so down-to-earth and sort of welcome all us overseas guys in RCB was pretty cool, so very appreciative for him for that. It'll be awesome to play against him now that I've sort of shared a changing room with him as well."

Why Duffy could trouble Kohli in the upcoming ODI series

Duffy may not possess express pace, but he is rather known for troubling the batters with his impeccable seam movement. He relishes bowling in New Zealand conditions since the pitches there are conducive to bowlers.

Kohli, for starters, isn’t troubled by pace; rather, he sometimes faces difficulty against bowlers who have the capability to deceive him with seam movement, and Duffy can do that.

Moreover, Kohli has not played in New Zealand for a while, so he might find it tough to adjust right away, and Duffy can take advantage of the situation, since he knows his strengths and weaknesses from the IPL days.
