Tempers were flaring in the President's Trophy Grade-II final, as Eshaal Associates took on the Kingsmen in Karachi from October 16. The players almost exchanged blows when the match was heading towards a crucial phase on Day 2.

Both teams were eyeing a promotion to the first division, so a lot was riding on the first innings lead. Batting second, Eshaal Associates were closing in on the lead, and as two players were about to get physical, an intervention was required to avoid any mishaps.

President's Trophy II Final Heats Up

The incident happened in the 70th and the final over of the second innings. To get the first innings lead, Eshaal needed 11 runs and batter Zain Bin Farooq hit pacer Muhammad Amir Azmat for a six at the 69.3 over mark.

As Zain went over the top to celebrate the six, after taking the equation to 2 needed from 4 balls to get the lead, the bowler lost his cool. Azmat confronted the batter for his celebration and went face-to-face. Just when the two were about to hit each other, Sajjad Ibrahim intervened and separated the pair.

Umpires also took care of the proceedings and calmed both parties down as the match went on.

The second division final in the Pakistan domestic circuit saw the match go right down to the wire. The Kingsmen, with Najab Khan's 104 and multiple fifties, racked up 369/9 in the stipulated 70 overs. Zahid Bashir of Eshaal picked 5/92.

Towards the end of Day 2, courtesy of Usman Khan's 140(141) and Mohib Haider Bhatti's 145(211), Eshaal Associates needed 85 off 10 overs to take the lead. Subsequently, the equation came down to 11 needed in the 70th over.

Thanks to Zain Bin Farooq's berserk cameo of 48*(30) with 3 sixes and two fours, Eshaal toppled Kingsmen and got 371 in their 70 overs.

As things stand, Kingsmen lead by 91 runs, with 94/3 in 33.2 overs. However, EA have the first-innings lead, meaning they have an upper hand in the fixture. If the match ends in a draw, Eshaal Associates will play President's Trophy Grade-I next season and rub shoulders with the best players in the country.
