The much-anticipated ODI Tri-series in Pakistan is just a night away, with Pakistan set to face Sri Lanka in the opening match on Sunday, October 18.

Ahead of the high-octane clash, Pakistan ODI captain Shaheen Afridi addressed the media, stressing the unity within the team and urging fans to maintain a positive outlook.

Shaheen Afridi Sends Unity Message Ahead Of Tri-Series Opener

A day ahead of first match of the ODI Tri-Series, Pakistan ODI skipper Shaheen Afridi addressed the media in a pre-match press conference, with one of his biggest remarks being an appeal to spread positivity about team unity.

He urged the media to tell fans that the Pakistan cricket team is united, insisting that there is love within the dressing room and the players are focused on playing cricket.

“Tell the fans that this team is playing with unity and there is love within the team. This team tries to play cricket. It’s a game and if we take it too seriously, people will start wondering what is going wrong with this team and why they aren’t winning,” Shaheen Afridi said.

Pakistan cricket has endured a turbulent period, from cybercrime agency investigations to a recent T20I captaincy change and the controversy surrounding Imam-ul-Haq’s injury.

Shaheen’s message comes as Pakistan look to turn the page and begin a fresh chapter in the tri-series involving Sri Lanka and England.

Shaheen Afridi Leads Pakistan’s 2027 World Cup Focus

With less than a year remaining until the 2027 ODI World Cup, Shaheen Afridi stressed that Pakistan are focused on winning the trophy and building a squad capable of competing for the title.

Despite his recent removal from Pakistan’s T20I squad, Shaheen remains at the forefront of the ODI setup. Pakistan have played six ODIs in 2026 across two series, winning 2-1 against Australia, but suffered an away series defeat to Bangladesh.

The upcoming ODI Tri-Series against Sri Lanka and England presents another opportunity for Pakistan to strengthen their ODI combination. With the World Cup approaching, the tournament could prove an important step in their preparations.
